**Spoilers maybe** Ef a Tale of Melodies - Scared to continue

I will try to keep this spoiler free,

So I have finished through episode 8 and find that I may for the first time be emotionally disturbed enough to not finish an anime. I'm really hoping you guys can tell me that its going to get better over the last four episodes, but the way the series is going I am actually dreading these last four episodes. I already plan to take a couple of days off and distance myself a little bit and power through (I hope) because the artistic quality is amazing, but that has so far only made it more effective, especially during the reveal (in the Church). The voice acting coupled with the abstractness of it (AMAZING), coupled with watching it right before bed, caused some really messed up dreams.

Anyways, I hope these characters are saved somehow over the next 4 episodes.

Believe me when I say, if you do not think you can handle an unpleasant ending that show is not for you.

That said, it is a pretty amazing ending, albeit stupidly depressing. Its worth watching as long as you can handle depressing endings.

Also, the voice acting in that reveal/rant scene is easily the best ive seen in anime. Or more specifically, its the only single bit of a show ive cared enough about just for its voice acting to remember it as good voice acting.

It's been a long time, but I don't remember it as anything worse than 'bittersweet'. Just tough it out, it's a good show and won't SHAFT you too unfairly.

Regardless of what might happen I would always encourage people to finish stuff which makes them feel like that, because even assuming it would be a tragic end I'd still say that's a lot better than dropping it without knowing for sure. At least that way you'll get closure.

Okay. I can handle depressing endings. Its just after that reveal, then the ending of 8 where he finds her kinda told me this wasn't going to end well. miereneronaile you are definitely correct on that. That had to be the best voice-acted scene Ive ever heard in any anime. I'm going to look up what other shows that VA has done to see if she continues the trend.

HaXXspetten: I agree with you on that. Ive never failed to complete an anime yet (and I won't with this), but this is definitely the first time Ive wondered if it was worth it to keep going. Ive seen/read/been part of some pretty messed up stuff in my life, but that hit me out of left field. That actually hit me worse than Ushio in Clannad: AS and Clannad: AS has many direct correlations to my own life.

Ohh its worth it, its just going to be painful if you like the characters. I dont think it can be called bitter sweet. Maybe for some of the characters but most definitely not for the most relevant one imo.

I like this part. SHAFT really is an enigmatic studio.
