TITLE.

We need to stop derailing threads. If you start to notice a conversation you are a part of is going into derailment territory, please state "Let's take this to the ORTDT thread' or something. Or if I notice this happening, I'm going to ask you all to move here and if you do not do so I will just start deleting your posts that are not on the topic of whatever thread.

Feel free to go on as many tangents as you want in here. You can all have 50 conversations going on at once in here, I don't care, just do it here and not in another thread. Thanks!

If we are continuing the SHAFT discussion then this was my last post:

For me, Nise was arguably better. Bake's plot was weak and some arcs were better than others. Nise put the plot in the background and focused on what the show did best: style. It had more fanservice, but it had much better audiovisuals. It had much less pretension and just focused on presentation without as much pseudo-depth. The whole "fake vs real" theme went a bit far, but still. I forget which one was funnier, which could be a deciding factor, but I seem to remember preferring Nise.

Amberleh said:
You're probably right, but like I said, my hatred of SHAFT runs pretty deep. It's not gonna change but I'm open to discussing it, but we should take it to profile comments =)
I get that. It's one of those things that a lot of people aren't going to like no matter what. As it lacks objective depth, the only thing to talk about is the presentation, which is going to appeal to you or not. In this way, it's one of the few anime that is almost impossible to form an objective opinion on or properly discuss.

Bakemonogatari >>>>> Madoka Magica

I cry every night knowing that Madoka is on the enlightenment list while Bake is not.

It's quite neat

@Moe

I honestly prefer Bake to Nise, I found the character arcs way more interesting in both dialogue and theming (the whole thing about relativism > all that talk about fakes in Nise imo), and in terms of presentation..

And btw Hitagi is among my favourite characters so it's only natural I prefer the series which has more of her.

True, but the snake arc in Bake was very weak. Nise had no weak episodes, to me. More consistent.

I think Nise is just as good as Bake.
Nekomonogatari had great animation but other than that it was a bit disappointing.

Why people always forget it ;_;

Also comparing both is impossible as they're really different. It would be like comparing SZS and

I like Maria Holic a lot from what I've seen of it; I really despised Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai, though. That's about all the rest I've seen out of SHAFT, so I'm somewhat limited in which of their works I can get in depth on.

I read dance in vampire bund a lot in the past, and from what I can remember there are no panty shot, and it is actually a good series too..

As I never watch the anime adaptation, is SHAFT somehow added panty shot on it or there actually some in manga that I fail to remember?

I also rather liked the manga, but I recall it having straight nudity in it, so if anything, SHAFT probably would have had to tone it down. I could be wrong as I've never seen any part of the anime.

Though I'm one of the peculiar types where nudity, male/female/otherwise, doesn't grate me or get under my skin like excessive jiggling and panty shots will.

I admit that I really tempted to put some indecent jiggling/panty shot pic to annoy you, but I realize that will be quite inappropriate ..

I share the same feeling as you do though, mostly because jiggling and panty shots usually just serve as nothing more than fan service.
While nudity, in some quality series, can act as a powerful indicator that serve to represent some issue such as female embodiment, sexist perspective, etc..

and what do you mean by "nudity, male/female/otherwise"....

I am with you on this one. Not completely sure why I feel so. Perhaps it's got to do with what doraemon said - that jiggling and panty shots will almost invariably be just for fanservice/tittilation and nudity can be much more than that (although I admit it's often used for fanservice as well). For example, nudity for Mine Fujiko in the last year Lupin III series is a part of her character and a means of obtaining what she wants. Thus, it never bothered me in the least. Ofc, it was rather artistically done, so that may also be part of the reason. Another example is nudity in that one Kaiji arc.

How could donkeys even get under your skin? That's like saying 'well thought out plot and beautiful animation don't get under my skin'. It's just redundant to mention donkeys here.

9000 defense doesn't even do anything these days. They'll just use a monster effect or spell to kill it without dealing with the defense. And 12 stars for a ritual monster is terribad, like, worthless bad.
