THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The strategy this time is a bit more believeable - having a slowass runner ahead of Johnson will make life much easier for Tokuchi. He doesn't have to worry about stolen bases, he just has to throw strikes. Somehow I doubt it'll be quite that easy, though.

It was alright. This series lacks the life or death intensity of Akagi and Kaiji. There's nothing to be upset over if all Toua can lose is money - he could probably repay any debt he incurs by gambling it away.

Least favorite episode so far, can't wait for this arc to end, but the preview for the next episode does make it seem pretty awesome.

Why do I have to drop a show for one boring episode? Especially when I said I was entertained by a few of the previous ones.

Eh, I can't really drop a show once I've started it, and I always just point out flaws because that's the only thing that begets discussion. Regarding One Outs, since I know only the basics about baseball, and this show is really not so much a character piece or a plot showcase, it can be judged only on entertainment value, so saying I was bored is valid criticism in my eyes.

I like the people who comment about the game(I forgot what they're called... commentators?.. xP) there always seems to be a cherry, talkative one and one that asks, " what do you think is happening?" I didn't find the plan obvious..I'm pretty slow haha. xP

I like the commentators too, although I kinda missing the drunk one :P

That poor batter, once Toua puts a suggestion in your head, you are his puppet!! I really can't get enough of the devilish 'just of planned' shots. It's also nice to see a different tactic of manipulating the positioning of other players to counter Johnson stealing the home base. Lol though you gotta feel some sympathy for the slow running Miyama! XD

I like the announcer's voice, it's sexy..

I loved how Toua figured out how to seal Johnson's speed but Shirooka the swindler take a counter wonder how many options does Toua had to seal Johnson's leg again..with a runner in front of Johnson Shirooka probably had another new strategies

There really is a major flaw with the logic in this episode.
Yeah left handed batters prevents the ankle pitch but it makes a normal away pitch far better.

I didn't mind this episode, even if it's dragging on as some people say, I still enjoy watching it regardless.

I wonder what will happen in the next games after this? The idea about a Chinese guy using kung-fu to win sounds interesting ;)

Yeah the Johnson arc doesn't deserve this much time on it, though the strategy is more believeable, no runner in baseball deserves this much attantion because runners don't steal home.

This episode was really great. It looks like the catcher is already learning something from Tokuchi when he was able to think of the consequences of outing the slow guy in front of him. But this can be countered as well. Now that slow guy can try stealing the home plate and it will be win for Bugaboos either way. When he is out Johnson can run and when he isn´t he gets a point...And even if Tokuchi found a way to stop this combo the player batting before Johnson can just swing every time so he is out and Johnson has nobody in front of him.

Whoa the hate train returns!

The first half had a little too many calculations and math for my liking but it really picked up in the second half when Tokuchi started making mistakes to allow baserunners to trap Johnson.

Tokuchi's reaanyone inlly in a sticky situation now. Getting the baserunner on third out will allow Johnson to run without front of him while getting Johnson out will make getting the baserunner heading for home very difficult to get.

Can't wait to see what happens next episode!

Okay this was a bit retarded. So, basically Johnson can make it home from third because the catcher will be on the left side of the batter's box when he is near home. Tokuchi countered this by throwing it behind the batter (i.e. tossing to the right side of the batter's box), however their counter is now to move the batter to the left side? Hitting a complete ball that is also low is nigh impossible, and to do so would require leaving the batter's box, resulting in an out and forcing Johnson to return to third. Of course pitching their would cause Johnson to get out just like he was the other game, so obviously this strategy would just continue working on Johnson now that they put all these batters on the left side. However had they left them as right handed batters, Tokuchi wouldn't be able to do the ankle trick if they intentionally let the ball hit them, then they would get walked and just score a run on walks.

Other than that, I've been wondering, why doesn't Tokuchi just throw a "wild pitch" hitting the baserunner. I am not positive but I believe that if Johnson is close enough to home this could be considered interference by the runner resulting in an out. But those calls are tricky, and I am unsure if pitchers can get that call while pitching.

I must say, this arc is less interesting than the last one. The anti-baseball was really fun.

Things seem to get interesting next week. By putting everyone in the infield, the batter will feel forced to hit the ball. Since batter always fail against Toua, he will easily strike him out or prevent any home stealing by bunts.

I really enjoy the use of tricks and strategy, over the bullshit talent as seen in other series like DnA. Of course some of what Toua does and predicts is pretty bullshit at times too.

Hm. I can't give this series a rating higher than a 7 bc we constantly see Toua getting picked on by Owner and asshole enemies :/ I'm always rooting for him, but he's always winning and there's no chara growth. I expected some screentime for AT LEAST Kojima-- the famous best batter, but the only person really highlighted is Toua.

Agreeing with other peeps, Toua's tactics are getting kind of repetitive and dull. Yeah, they're still new-ish concepts, but the overall satisfaction atmosphere is still the same.

The match continues and Toua's thought up of a pretty simple but effective strategy to prevent Johnson from using his overwhelming speed. It's a good thing Ideguchi realized what he was about to do and prevented himself from undoing the plan.

I wonder when the owner would give up on raising bets he can't win and just give the reins to his kinder companion.
