Yeah, I read up on Mahjong before watching this and it's really hard to understand. I don't know how Akagi picked it up so quick, lol.

Anyway, I watched this because I really got into Kaiji and I loved the first 2 eps of this show.

I liked the differences in Akagi's and Kaiji's character. They are very different people.

I know something epic is happening but I don't know what. I'm going to have to learn some Mahjong.

I found that re-watching it is a lot more interesting than simply reading up on the rules / gameplay of mahjong; plus as the anime progresses you'll understand more and more.

I don't understand a thing about Mahjong, but I found this episode to be really entertaining. Even I could feel the tension in the room.

So he discarded a good win solely in order to deflect the psycological pressure? It's one thing to throw a trash win for that, but...
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

I really want to know what goes on in his thought process. It really must suck to be those other 2 players.

That was intense as fuck, loved it. Shigeru's thought process is scary, he is a very impressive character so far.

"The legendary Night continues..."

What a groundbreaking entertainment was this episode! I feel the intense of their duel just like that officer experiencing(I feel like I am next to him watching the match) So hype to see how this legendary man continues this match!

Despite being seen as a beginner doing rookie moves that are always unnecessarily reckless, his Devil's luck, intuition, and unwavering heart proved everyone wrong as he racked up win after win without cheating.

Yagi might be more of a challenge than Ryuzaki but the psychological tactics he was trying to pull will definitely cost him a finger...or four.

Knowing the rules would surely make me appreciate it more, but the mind games are already very entertaining on it's own.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Feeling the same way. (Also sounds like Onizuka Eikichi (GTO) VS Tokuchi Toua (One Outs) because of the voice actors so I'm subconsciously getting more mind game vibes too.)

Yeah, I enjoyed the episode a lot more than I thought I would! I've watched Kaiji and it's made it on my favorites list, so I decided to give this one a go. I know the basics of mahjong, but I don't have the winning hands or points memorized. There's a few translators notes in my subtitles for the terminology so it's really helpful. I totally understand that it's not babying the watcher into the rules of the game, though. Especially because of how complicated mahjong is.

Twas a great episode. With many games its always a psychological battle, seeing a player like akagi is kinda refreshing since he doesn't seem like he is on a high horse.

Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.

Not gonna lie, I don't know how to play mahjong but even without knowing the basic rules, it's still fascinating.

it's the first time that i let the ending credits roll out and immediately i recognized "maximum the hormone". what a awesome ending for a awesome anime.

even though yasuoka seemed set on nabbing akagi, he is getting quite into his mahjong plays. i am under the impression that he is probably not as concerned about his crimes as he is about akagi's genius...
