Hiromu Arakawa is drawing a manga adaption of the light novel "The Heroic Legend of Arslan" by Yoshiki Tanaka. The adaption will appear in the June issue of the magazine Bessatsu Shounen Magazine.

Hiromu Arakawa is a well-known mangaka for her works like Fullmetal Alchemist and Hero Tales. Yoshiki Tanaka is a well-know writer of light novels which include the Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan was previously adapted in a manga by Chisato Nakamura. It has also been turned into two movies and a four-part OVA series.

Geh, I wish that one studio would take care of the stalled animated project instead. Who needs another manga from this light novel ? There's already a good one available right now, even if it's quite old ~~

He's talking about Yoshiki Tanaka, the author of those two stories.

It's a manga.
If the man wants to watch a manga, then we let him.

OT: I think it looks ok. I've seen the news and pic around for a while and it doesn't look great. But then again that's what I thought about Fullmetal Alchemist.

As much as I love Arslan and Arakawa. I don't think this a great combination, Arakawa's art isn't particularly good for an adaptation work, specially this one, I prefer when she does her own original works.

I'll give it a try, really hoping for it to be good.
Since Arakawa's drawing it she must think the story is good and that she can use her art to strengthen it.

Wow, it might be epic, I trust Arakawa-sensei. Actually I'm looking more forward to this, than to the Silver Spoon, her last manga.
Who knows, it might be FMA level, would be awesome :D
Definitely will read first chapter, when it comes out.

Well, yeah, but since I don't know that story I hope to enjoy it, once I read it :P Probably I wouldn't even know about it, if Arakawa wouldn't be part of that manga.

While I like Arakawa's artwork, I'm infinitely more excited at the prospect of experiencing something else from Tanaka. In fact, I wonder if the first manga was ever translated....

Probably the best news I've heard in a while. I was just thinking I'd like to read the novelized 'Heroic Legend of Arslan'. And in 2013 as well. This HAS to be good.

I know right i saw this for the first time last year and was amazed. I notice a lot of OVA series in the 90s got fucking cancelled. Especially when the story and world is so good.
