A bit disappointing, but then again there's only so much you can do with this situation, especially with another game to go.

How is the Himmel release guys? Is it good enough to back up, or should just wait for the b2e release?

Not too shabby, I think it's a good backup until B2E resumes their subs.

Just because Japanese baseball players <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< American minor leaguers. They have what, 12 teams? Total? If I think like that, it's easy to suspend all disbelief and accept that a .03 second difference actually matters in any way. Wouldn't pass muster in the MLB. Instead of taking things totally seriously...

The One Outs drinking game: Watch a few episodes of One Outs with some friends of yours. Make sure there's enough beer (or other preferred beverage) at hand. Every time something happens that would never, EVER happen in real American baseball, take a drink. Last one standing wins. Optional: You may feel free to say "Ha ha ha ha ha ... in America" after every drink. (Please note that I will not be held responsible for death by alcohol poisoning resulting from playing with episodes 9, 11, or 12)

It's only against the rules if the pitcher steps on the mound and gets into throwing position. We used to do this all the time in high school baseball. Another trick is to have the center field man sneak behind 2nd base while the second baseman distracts the runner on 2nd by moving forward and bit. Then have the pitcher throw the ball to the center field man who should then be covering second and tag the runner out. It's an easy out but it's hard to pull off without practice.

Most of this stuff is very doable in American baseball but you never see teams do it because it's considered dirty or risky since theirs a high chance something might go wrong.

Wow, so the hidden ball wasn't against the rules? Once again it's amazing how these little used plays and rules are being used to Toua's advance. Although this one felt a little dirtier then usual ;)

It's been interesting that with this arc Toua hasn't been able to just look at people and sum them up, but has to take bigger risks by watching Johnson play and then find out the weaknesses. As for the flaws with threwing towards the ankle... is it that it wouldn't work for a left handed batter? *goes off to watch next episode*

This is far from over, so many of the tactics have been shown to each other, so I agree with Toua when he says that the real battle starts now.

i find it funny how they show johnsons steal as unstoppable when it is easy to keep him from getting to 3rd base. If he decides to run without checking the pitching motion then you just throw your pick off to the base he is running to.

This show is fun but a lot of it falls apart if you think about it for more then 1 min.

Won't work because Johnson is so unrealistically fast that by the time the runner on third throws the ball to the catcher, the catcher won't have time to apply the tag because Johnson will be safe. I think they mention this at the very beginning. Toua really thought all his tricks through and it's pretty awesome.

I actually love baseball. I watch it and played it in high school, and was asked to play for my university (but I declined because at the time I was a Pre-Med student and wanted to focus on school). It's true that a lot of Toua's tricks could never work in the Major Leagues, but that doesn't really matter. It's an anime, and an enjoyable one at that. It's pretty awesome how Toua manages to make all this stuff work while only throwing an 80 mph fastball.

Oh the hidden ball trick. Love it. Then you pull the super inside ball to get him out, nice work but it won't work twice I fear.

Alright Toua, time to really think this one through.

The hidden ball thing would never work at any level of actual pro baseball.

Base runners don't take their lead until the pitcher is on the rubber. If you don't have the ball when you're on the rubber, it is a balk and the runners advance.

One of the first things you learn about base running is not to leave the bag until the pitcher is on the rubber.

^This.

Shirooka and Toua were just testing out each other's skills in those two games.
That was a nice trick play though. XD

Wow Johnson, the owner, and Shirooka all got rekt this episode.

That pitch to the batter's ankle by Tokuchi was awesome.

That hidden ball trick was awesome. Didn't even know plays like this existed in baseball until just now.

This is going to be my stopping point of the night. This anime has changed greatly since it has started for the better. I can't wait to watch the next game tomorrow night!

8/10 for this episode and 8.5/10 for the series so far.

Well . . . Pitching at the ankle like that is bad for other reasons, if he hits the batter it could be seen as intentional (and since getting hit in the ankle can do damage) he could be ejected from the game for that.
