There most definitely won't be a second season - wouldn't be surprised if there was a spin off or a remake, but don't get your hopes up. They pretty much closed up the entire story. If you're really into this series, you should consider reading the manga and novels.

On another note, why must there always be some sarcastic and unnecessary comments in every single thread that someone has a question?

Ahaha, I would have of loved Season 2, I started and finished watching this whole Show in less then 1 Day. If they had showed something like what happened after they left I would even be abit happy.

Well, it was suppose to happen the Spring of 2011, then the earthquake and tsunami and everything else happened in Japan. Even in the aftermath, Japan, besides all the relief, is still widely affected today. They keep talking about it and turning it down. So to a new season, hopefully but unlikely. Season 1 ended in a way which if some people agree with me, not really well. Kanade leaves Otonashi in the afterlife. I mean seriously? Guy flat out confesses and you JUST LEAVE HIM. I would go crazy if that happened to me. Also, the little cut scene at the end. Are they reincarnated? Was this thing just a huge dream? What happened or happens? Is that actually Kanade? We don't really know. For some people, it ended well, but for some people it didn't. Don't be all like le sigh why do you want a season 2. But if you're interested, there is a manga thats pre-quel to the series and a game adaptation that is about to come out.

I actually DON'T want a 2nd season. I thought the 1st season ended on great terms and there's really no need for a 2nd season. In fact, I think a 2nd season would kind of ruin the good things the first season did.

Final verdict: Probably not and I really hope they don't.

Well, it would be kinda hard getting a 2nd season in there. I guess they could do something like more people ending up in the "Afterlife" while Otonashi helps them get back to the real world.
Still, it doesn't really stick though.

A remake would be very good. The art style they could i guess change up a little bit, but they should add another 13 episodes so that they could have more characters back stories.

I do believe a few months back, I saw/heard rumors of a second season. A picture was provided of a japanese statement, seemed like a lost of sorts, and within the text had said something about a season 2.

They in no way set it up for anything to go off of with the way they ended. I think a remake would be nice, especially a full 24-26 ep remake. Maybe then they'd actually be able to put some development into the characters instead of just a 5 minute back story before making them disappear.

I have a theory to how this could work, in Angel beats at the very very end otinashi saw kanada and went to grab her as if she was someone that he knew, so if some how they were able to remember who they were they could possibly meet again. just my theory

thas is exactly what i was thinking!!
Is there any way to contact the anime makers? they should make an OVA about what happened after they went back to the real world, because the end was actually a really sad end. They could make some OVAs about their happy life in the real world. An idea for a second season could be some end of the real world and that they have to go back to the afterlife world to save the real world, but i seriously want an OVA about their life in the real world.
