What do you use to read your visual novels?

Just curious as to see how people read their visual novels. After getting my desktop built, I expected to use it mostly for reading VNs, but have discovered that, for some particular reason, I seem to not be able to concentrate reading them as I have on a laptop. I will be getting a new one solely for the reason for reading them.

I'm a laptop guy. I like being able to play whenever I feel like it.

Just stationary desktop, not very many exceptions to that. I'll go fullscreen in the rare case of a 1280x720 vn, otherwise I just play on desktop, hide icons and turn on a pure black desktop background so it's as little of a visual distraction as possible from the game window.

Heck, I though I was the only person that used the black background when playing in windowed mode xD. I use my laptop (since I don't have a desktop for now) though I always play VNs in my room.

For how long do you play? I think it's hard to find the time to play, because you kinda have to play at least 2-3 hours to really immerse yourself...

It's not like anime, where you can just watch a single 25-minute episode and then stop :/

It depends on how strong VN touches my interest. The average time i think will be like 5-6 hours a day. I have enough free time, so i can allow it to myself :)

Something like that on my part, too. Except, that my laptop is still working, however, the noise has become too annoying and it's too much of a hassle to re-apply the heat-sink paste, just because some VNs with flash elements make it cry. Well, I used to plug in a desktop screen on my laptop anyways, so for now I've simply replaced it with a secondary display.
PSP is nice, too, however, there aren't that many (fully) translated in English for it.

It's not dangerous as long as you time the sex scenes at night or when no one else will bother you for a while. While I don't know about your living conditions, I guess, it's possible with headphones and if the other cohabitants would have the courtesy to knock before entering your room, which would leave you enough time for Windows key+D or Windows key+M.
Or you could just power down the display.

It depends on the VN and on the time I have. Sometimes I can immerse for a few hours, but most of the times I simply read till I get a good enough stopping point and re-read for recap + read further.
For me it's easier to read with several breaks in between.

I usually read VN on a desktop. Usually I don't need any stimulus to stay interested. When i'm not interested I drop it. I usually don't force myself to do stuff for fun if I don't enjoy it. I always play it at the window size it boots up in for the first time.

I prefer desktop over laptop because the desktop is faster more stable and has better sound.

I also like long 1h+ sessions. Prefrably somewhere near 2 hours or longer. I don't think i've had sessions shorter than half an hour.
