So I watched the Kanon 2002 version a long time ago. I didn't think it was any good either. Should I bother watching this one? Is it any better?

It's more comedic that the original, they also explain a lot of the arcs better. And above all else the animation is AWESOME! More finer details throughout the series in animation and voice acting. Some of the scenes will take your breath away with the colouring and animations applied! I could spend hours analyzing this. It's definitely one of the best animes out there that is still currently airing!

Yea everything's much more fleshed out this time around. Animation is the obvious improvement. Kyoto Animation, I'm sure you know, also did Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. The only thing I have to complain this time around is that Makoto's arc was first, which I found to lag a bit. The first 5 episodes are mostly slice-of-life comedy (at least watch till episode 5). Once the 10th episode is over (some ppl liked episode 6-10, I never liked Makoto but different strokes yea), then real drama kicks in - drama that did not quite come to fruition in the Toei adaptation. The first time around they...tended to kick a lot of things I thought was essential to the curb.

I definitely found this time was even easier for me to sympathize with the characters Mai and Shiori. Everyone's more likable (even Makoto).

Well anyway I'm sure you can tell from my sig that Kanon is one of my favorite series so you know I highly recommend this.

No but read the manga for One Piece.
The word elitist is stupid since it's just used by people who can't defend their favorite shows and use it on people who criticize their favorite shows.
