How do you even pronounce this Anime title? I know how to say "Elfen" but I had always thought that you pronounced "Lied" like when you say that you lied to someone. Is that really how you pronounce it or is it pronounced like "lead" like to lead a chorus or is it pronounced like "Lee-ed"?

It's German for "Song" and is pronounced leed or lead.

Lead when it is the verb, not when it is a noun though.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

The vowel in Lied is a bit longer than the vowel in lid though.

If you want it in phonetics:
[ˈɛlfn̩ liːt]

By the way, I say "erfen riido", because it's Japanese pronounced German.

Ok for starters, I am actually German, yo Lied gets pronounced as lead, so 'ie' gets pronounced as a long e. Plus After German Grammar the whole title should be one word so 'Elfenlied' even though it is distributed seperated.

Wow this is amazing not a single one of you is correct, the song for the opening is in latin by the way not German so Lied doesnt translate into song it translates into red and Elfen doesnt mean elf in latin it is the word for lilium which surprise is the name of the song. So Elfen Lied is actually Red Lilium.

By the way Lied is pronounced Lee-ed not Lyed or Leed.

But Elfenlied is a song by Eduard Mörike which translates to "Elves Song".

Literally check Google Translate and it says that the title is German.

Thats right, it is such an elegant wording that it has 2 meanings depending on which language you translate it into, the reason that is is because German is one of the languages derived from latin which is why we also have the word Elf. But the song itself is in latin and the name of the song is Lilium meaning that the proper translation of the name should be the latin translation "Lilium Red" or red lilium. Put in latin as the detected language and put each word of the name in individualy since multiple words somtimes confuses the translator.
