Lol the reason why the author decided to change JJBA to Seinen, was in fact, it could not compete with other shounen shows.
And you know this because...? That's just speculation on your part.

If I have to form my own speculation, JJBA moved towards seinen because it has much bloodier/gorier stuffs. Which was fine in the past (e.g. some of Go Nagai's works were shounen but would have been seinen by today's standards). And I'm not sure you realize this, but JJBA is pretty influential you know?

Man, are people really judging JJBA because of the first 2 episodes? Like seriously?

Changing the style from shounen to seinen, is changing the demographic it aims at, to the mature audience, because the story isn't interesting or addictive like shounen shows in this era.
Well, that is your opinion, so I'm not going to challenge that.

Even artists need money bro, they need to make living. To be honest, if it was stood among the top, above naruto, one piece, then the author would definitely not bother changing its style.
http://jjba.wikia.com/wiki/JoJo%27s_Bizarre_Adventure

Look at the run time, No.6, this time was the time when one piece, naruto appeared, and many other shounen appeared, Jojo's still a shounen. But after 3 years, it changed the style, to a monthly seinen.

I'm not gonna dig in this matter, at least I want to see what kind of classic is the show. Cause I'm kinda classic stuff e.g berserk <3

Again, speculations on your part (with the regards to the 'why').

And again, nothing wrong with that.

Alright I shall now abandon this thread. It's just going around in circles.

Amazing episode. Great opening and very nice OST during the battles. The next episode will be EPIC, looking forward to it.

For the people here complaining about the story: stop taking Jojo's story so seriously or comparing with the typical nowadays childish shounen style, as the title says it's "bizarre adventures", when you all start to watch for the bizarre enemies and creative fight scenes more than its different (and faster) story telling, you'll see why Jojo's still so famous, hyped and unique.

It is enough to speculate things wrong when you have not even read the manga. The style is constantly changing, so I throw you into the part 4 you will see that it is far, be as in part 1.

Also stop saying bullshit when Jojo and DB inspired a lot manga you've named. HXH took Jojo base with the nen, he also took some power of ''Stand'' for character in his manga.

The reason he wanted to go into the Ultra because he wanted to have more freedom. The guy did a great job, he can relaxed and do what he wants.

Opening, well I loved it, I don't mind CG as long as it is good CG and honestly the CG used on the opening was so well fitting for the series and seeing all of the Manga panels re-mastered looking like that is just awesome, opening of the season? Definitly going to end up in my top 3 I can tell you that.
Episode itself was also great, pacing felt a bit less less rushed and the action was good albiet the cencorship felt a bit extreme, especially after we have just seen what Hunter X Hunter and Psycho Pass can do without getting in trouble so I feel it could be toned down.
This is still up there as one of my favorite shows this season and I hope that it keeps being as good as it is at the second.
Overall I would say this show is probably going for about an 8/10 at the second.

Jojo was changed into a Seinen magazine because Araki's stories fit much more in the seinen category than the shonen category. That's it.

And please, stop comparing Jojo with the nowadays battle shonen because it simply cannot be compared. Jojo lived in a reality totally different than the "new" shonen lives, and judge the whole 108-volume series by just 2 episodes of the anime (that equals 1 volume) is just stupid.

Dio keeps me interested (all his poses) and that hovercar Dio, lol, but all in all this was kind of a really boring episode. Dio is the only good character design while everyone else is just too old and way too buff that it becomes unappealing. The lack of friendship stuff just made this rough to get through (I loved the opening football thing) but it was all for naught when both revealed theyve been faking it and clearly have no aspiration to rebuild any at all, so I doubt it will ever come again. Hopefully the series improves from here and gets better, or else this will be a rough 26 or so episodes.

Jojo: a normal shonen. Are you kidding me? Even if you don't like it, you can't say that this show doesn't have anything special.

Anyway, I liked that second episode. It's interesting how Dio hate his father despite being the same kind of cunning bastard.

I can't wait to see what role this mask will play in the story.

This argument is actually really stupid. I enjoyed Madoka, F/Z and other recent titles such as Jinrui for their good storytelling and directing just as much as I enjoy Jojo, Hokuto no Ken and stuff like City Hunter. The problem is most people are narrowminded, this extends to both the fans blinded by nostalgia, the guys who only care about pretty designs and good animation and of course the pseudo-elitists who sometimes seem to be a combination of these two...

I'm sure the journey of Elric brothers in FMA is much more epic than JoJo's adventure.

How can you judge the epicness of an anime after only 2 episodes?

Clannad has popularized the drama genre to most of anime viewers, the only old show I've watched was grave of the fireflies, but if I tell my friend to watch it, I better not.

Grave of the Fireflies has popularized anime in western countries and it is often listed at one of the best movie ever. In term of influence, it is leagues above Clannad.

Maybe because you shouldn't take it that seriously. Look at the name of the show? Look at all those flashy pose and visual effect? Look at the character design, at the beginning of the anime, they were something like 12.

It has the typical shonen retardations and format whether it's officially shonen or not.
It's also like Digimon, but for teenagers.

Sr but it's not what happened in MAL, and I'm not in western countries either. The chart speaks for itself. In term of popularity, clannad leagues above. Haha, I'm loving this series! I have to admit, as someone who has never heard of Jojo until now, I'm glad I decided to jump onto the bandwagon XD (I'm glad someone in a Hunter x Hunter forum mentioned it otherwise I wouldn't have discovered it in the first place).

Anyway, this episode was soo much better than the first episode. I'm glad the pace slowed down, cause I really like the set-up of this storyline and it'd be a shame if they were to rush through it.

On another note, I really took a liking to Dio's character in this episode (not that he wasn't a likable douche in the first one lol). I'm looking forward to his development in the future, especially in the next episode. That vampire mask really puts a twist on things!

Oh, and before I forget to mention it, I LOVE the opening sequence! It's so cool! The music! The effects! I love how the CGI was used! Gah, I probably sound really dumb right now but this anime, especially the opening sequence, makes me feel incredibly giddy!

Anyway, I'm highly anticipating the next episode! :D

I don't care how good new joJo's will be, I am already in love with the first part. There was not one thing I disliked in the episode and even Jojo turned into a likable character.
If next parts really are better... well, bring it on baby for I am ready B-D

So much damn generic crap, you know whats mediocre?: fanservice harem and moe! Totally a downgrade, you are free to not like the series or its artsyle but dont speak none-sense, screw stories , screw characters, all it takes nowadays to make anime is panties, tits and cute girls doing cute things, evolve my ****

Fanservice exists in every genre in every time. You can jump in every point in the past and you will give you a list of what they consider generic crap.
And as in every time, there is quite a few of good shows in every season, especially in Springs and Autumns. I don't even touch fanservice, harem and moe and yet I still have shows to watch.

Art style evolved?? Yea sure, What bad tastes you have to like supposed art style that looks the damn same, its impossible to distinguish characters nowadays, the same shitty generic and cheap art-style and designs used over and over again.,

One can guess from which age art-style is by just looking at it. 90's, 80's and even 70's, all have their respective popular art styles. That there are a lot of shows and Manga using the similar style in same time is decades old history.

The only difference is that it seems you only now got to notice all this.

Oh well, not all its lost with you yet then as psycho-pass has lot of potential, gets a plus for openly saying it aims to counter so called "evolution".

Psycho-Pass is filled with cliche's used for decades. The expectations for it are its writer: Urobuchi Gen, a man people trust will make something special soon enough.

Also I´ll say it directly you lack taste if you believe "art-style" has evolved and shallow for grounding your opinion on looks, like I said, nowadays screw stories and characters, the core of what makes something great, NOT looks.

Ah yes, the same thing criticizers repeat for decades and centuries in all story-making industries, just because they now started to realize that not everything on the market ain't awesome.

Again, I repeat you are free to not like the art-style, but its totally non-sense your so called "anime has evolved", and this remark alone is what I am referring to.

It does evolve every year. Just because it is not something you find good does not mean it didn't evolve.
Evolution is just change, not transformation into something everyone will agree on is better.

This argument is actually really stupid. I enjoyed Madoka, F/Z and other recent titles such as Jinrui for their good storytelling and directing just as much as I enjoy Jojo, Hokuto no Ken and stuff like City Hunter. And they could never be into anime, with them animated movies are just like those normal movies. And that's not what the industry aimed for, since there were hardly any shows like that. Ghibli made light hearted anime movies such as My neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and many more after. GOTF is like a one time animated movie, and with such a depress but humankind story, kids have to be mature enough to understand what the show wants to deliver. That why a portion watching it is adult as well.

The film's initial theatrical release in Japan was accompanied by Hayao Miyazaki's much more lighthearted My Neighbor Totoro as a double feature. In commercial terms, the theatrical release was a failure.[citation needed] While the two films were marketed toward children and their parents, the rather stark nature of Grave of the Fireflies turned away most audiences -wiki

It occurs to me that when someone makes no less than 5 posts in this topic after this one, he's a troll. How about you guys just give the poor man a rest? You're just making him embarrass himself further.

I liked the episode though I thought it would get further (manga readers would know of the scene I was hoping for). The opening is fantastic, its been too long since people actually made songs for anime. Johnathan having Johnny's eyes of black intent for a moment there was a nice touch.

It occurs to me that fan boys just don't take criticisms about the show seriously.

I enjoy the episode so far but when I read its manga I just found out that berserk is better in comparison, my all time fav manga that is <3.

With 26episode this show is quite risky to invest in. The style looks like western comic at first though. Wonder if the length is long enough to finish the first arc.

I think that a staff member let it slip that they have up to Battle Tendency planned to animate with the rest dependent on sales.

I don't think sales would be a problem. At the moment, this is the most watched anime of the season (using Nicovid as a proxy), and Jojo has always had a very strong core audience.

Voicing my opinion is bullshit? That's weird, just because I don't like a show, doesn't mean I should stop watching it, now you sound like a fanboy to me.

Try to post something like "if you don't like the show, then stop watching it" in SAO, LB or any other ani thread, you gonna get slapped in the face, true story.

Actually not liking a show would probably be the BEST reason to NOT watch it.

Anyone doubting if they will animate the second part or not should rewatch the OP.

If you pay attention you'll see there's a scene of Part 2 portrayed in it.

Hi I thought that this is a thread about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure the new anime...

NOT Berserk
NOT Full Metal Alchemist
NOT whatever the hell Psycho-Pass is
Not Fate/Zero
NOT whatever other anime or manga that is NOT JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Also would everyone please PLEASE SHUT UP with the "Fanboy" insults as
if we're not all posting in a thread dedicated to an anime series in an anime forum.
I mean honestly it's like a bunch of developers in a Linux forum calling each other
nerds. It boggles the mind. Yet at the same time we "fanboys" should respect
differing opinions and not grab the pitch forks if someone doesn't like something
about the show. However it's one thing to offer criticism and another to be
a wet blanket and a troll. You should already know the difference.

So how about let's get back to talking about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Ok?

I think the fact they showed the 6 out of the 8 series in quick manga progression
is a hint to them planning to do the rest of the series.

o much damn generic crap, you know whats mediocre?: fanservice harem and moe! Totally a downgrade, you are free to not like the series or its artsyle but dont speak none-sense, screw stories , screw characters, all it takes nowadays to make anime is panties, tits and cute girls doing cute things, evolve my ****

Art style evolved?? Yea sure, What bad tastes you have to like supposed art style that looks the damn same, its impossible to distinguish characters nowadays, the same shitty generic and cheap art-style and designs used over and over again.

Indeed.

And please, Takana_no_Hana, do us a favor and get out of this board.

I don't care how good new joJo's will be, I am already in love with the first part. There was not one thing I disliked in the episode and even Jojo turned into a likable character.
If next parts really are better... well, bring it on baby for I am ready B-D

The problem is most people are narrowminded, this extends to both the fans blinded by nostalgia, the guys who only care about pretty designs and good animation and of course the pseudo-elitists who sometimes seem to be a combination of these two...

^This

It has the typical shonen retardations and format whether it's officially shonen or not.
It's also like Digimon, but for teenagers.
Every 5 episodes you get one scene that you'd consider mature(mostly convos , but that's it, the rest is basically fancy talk that is too obvious it's laughable.
Reminds me of CG.

F/Z has elements of both elements and inspirations from Shounens and Seinens... as well as pros and cons of both styles.

This post probably enlighten you a little, and dw this is the last post that I wrote. It's pointless to discuss anyway since most fan boy just don't accept serious criticisms.

This 26 episode will cover the story of Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. They have to slow down if they gonna animate the other parts.

Comparing the overall weakest part to Berserk is really pointless.

Yeah I felt it kinda rushed a little. I am interested in seeing where this series is going, but I hope it’s not just a formula of Dio coming up with new ways to torment Jojo and Jojo overcoming it. Basically, the Pokemon plot treadmill.
