P.A. Works & Kishida Mel's New Anime 'Red Data Girl' Announced

Kadokawa Shoten has launched an official website for new anime "Red Data Girl" on July 22nd. The production studio is P.A. Works and the original character designer is Kishida Mel.

Judging from the novel author's comment, it will be a TV anime.

PA Works and Kishida Mel must have a good relationship, since this is the 2nd anime they've worked on together (the first being Hanasaku Iroha)

Will watch because of PA Works. I hope the production quality will be better than that of Tari Tari.

Otherwise, PA Works = watching. Though I do worry because this is yet ANOTHER slice of life by them. They getting pigeonholed like Kyoani now or something?

Well they tried something different with Another, and it bombed... so can you really blame them? People want slice of life and cute girls from them.

True, but I found Canaan decent (come at me bro Typemoon fans! :p) and I actually liked Another until it decided to derail in its final 2 eps. And the Professor Layton movie was plain decent family movie. The only thing I did not like by them was Angel Beats, which was a piece of turd that didn't know what it wanted to be. Guess the majority of the audience doesn't share that sentiment :(.

But it's still relatively ok with me since I loved True Tears (my avatar should make that obvious), Hanasaku Iroha despite it's problems was much better than your average "cute girls doing cute things" type of show and Tari Tari so far is great (credit to No Mari Okada derailing it to stupid bondage crap or omlette rice drama).

Though by far their best contribution was when they co-produced Seirei No Moribito with Production IG back in 2006...
Too bad the commercial viabilitiy of producing something like that in the current environment is close to 0%.

I'm ready to dismiss this as Hanasaku Iroha v3 (Tari Tari is Hanasaku Iroha v2, lol) but at least, this won't sound like a SoL.

LOLWOOT? They stayed quite true to them. Especially if comparing to what A-1 made with his Sora no Woto designs.

Well, the designs did not deviate that much but the Hanasaku Iroha anime didn't capture the appeal of Kishida's art. I haven't watched Kamisama no Memochou, so I can't compare how JC Staff did Kishida's designs.
