THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Nanami shows that she has no problem adjusting to her role as hero. She faces off with Cinque until they are rained down on by arrows. After the intermission we get to see Cinque's air board and Nanami gets skates. Rebecca is taken by Couver of Pastillage and made into their hero. Rebecca, by far, has the coolest gear with her broom and magic abilities. Oh, and her transformation was borderline ero.

This episode of dog had a very interesting Rebecca transformation in the spoiler
it showed all her body in full glory along with her underwear. Her colors and setup was nicely shown too. Looked like a boiled Rebecca.

I got to admit that Nanami’s part in the spoiler
made out nice fan service as well. It revealed her contours rather well. Hence going for the 200% more to show.

The rings were nice in the spoiler
However I liked Rebecca in the following,

It was nice start of her transformation and I liked it. While in fact I liked the intro of Pastillage as she comes to meet Rebecca in the spoiler
it was due to Rebecca’s reactions.

Got to admit that Yukikaze was sexy in the spoiler
This part also revealed some nice contours. Certainly the least of those are Yukikaze’s breasts and contours. Always some for of attraction there.

Seeing those 3 in the spoiler
In towels of all things was nice TBH.

In general it was nice fight of Cinque VS Nanami with mucho extra fan service along it. Might edit later.

BTW GIFs of the transformation done:
http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=463951
Obsession over this leads to over 100 GIFs of various proportions done and 2 hours time. Shows how much love Rebecca got.

Kuberu finally persuaded Becky to become a hero like her friends, as for Kuberu's personality she's over the top haughty but still being cute and not annoying

Becky's transformation is freaky and has a nice fanservice touch but her form suits her even though she couldn't control her broom at first.

Nanami just stole the episode and not only is she very powerful and can match Cinque, she is sexy in battle, love the waterspout she conjured up to attack Kuberu's airforce and she's having more fun than Cinque. Also all hell broke loose when they both sparred against each other resulting in a draw and many of the troops turned into dog and catballs. Her under outfit suits her and the sexy actions after her battle outfit ripped shows it well.

Anyone think Chrono Trigger when Nanami and Cinque used the cross attack

Dafaq was that henshin sequence by Rebecca? Weird on so many levels, and this tame war is ridiculous to begin with.
Oh well, it was still a fun episode. Aoi Yuuki's character is a good addition to the cast.
Let's hope that this really turns into a 3-way battle. A bit unfair for the first two sides to team up against the third one.

Nanami, y u put on clothes again!? That attire was still okay.

Cinque being called "Sink" in the subs I was watching was a bit disheartening...I was like "Really? Two seasons and we still don't know his name?"

That is what CR calls him. CR aired episode 1 and 2 today so that they could catch up. FFFPeeps and Interobang was probably what you watched last week and it might have been Ayako for the last season. All different subbers come up with a different way of saying his name.

Man...this is so enjoyable

Loved how they joined forces
And man Nanami is a fast learner...she's already on par with Cinque. But well that's more fun.
Lol at Cinque's reaction for Nanami with the light clothes

Finally what the hell was that transformation scene I don't know what to say about it...well, the only say I can say for sure is that it's really Ecchi and weird XD

The ecchi definitely leveled up in this series...not that it's a bad thing :)

Wow. That Rebecca fanservice. That was unexpected. I think that was far the most skin they showed in the whole series. I was like, paused when Rebecca said "Equip" and loled hard. But when I resumed, O_O Woah.

This is going to be long, simply because I'm a huge Dog Days fan and I love the series very much. This episode left me with alot of mixed feelings. My thoughts are not really organized but here goes:

This was probably my favorite episode of Dog Days ever. The action sequences were amazing and it's like they decided to just go non-stop with all the things that makes DD good...however I am very worried for the direction the show might be taking.

I loved that they went right into action and kept the adrenaline up, but I have to admit I was incredibly dissapointed that after season 1's Shinku vs Gaul fight that got interrupted, that they had this big lead-up in season 2's episode 1 that there will be a Gaul vs Shinku rematch. I was very much looking forward to it, and what did they do? Shinku and Gaul fight off camera and then Gaul is just like "Oh yeah he sure must have trained he's so much stronger than me!". Yeah...I think more of your budget should have went toward their fight than toward the transformation scene.

In between those parts the episode was great. Lots of action and fun characters. I'm not so sure about Leo being able to beat Yukki, but it was neat watching Leo grab Eclair and fling her into Yukki. I'm rather surprised that when Yukki's clothes fell off that she wasn't exposing more. The little ecchi cheesecake shots of the characters losing their clothes are what fans are used to and they really aren't offensive and they add to the show's charm .

Pastillage is turning out to be amazing. All the big birds flying around with the squirrels firing shots at each other was really exciting, and the Biscotti and Galette commanders Rolan and Bernard teaming up was really cool.

Sadly, along with such action they need to draw tons of frames, so the same season one pre-BD-release plague of wonky looking animation and frames was all over this episode. The thing is, it's better to have lots of frames of slightly-off animation compared to a few perfect still frames, so it's a price worth paying. The Blurays will fix the issues up.

I sort of like how Dog Days season 2 is going full Nanoha. I watched the Crunchyroll stream and saw they had translated their magical rings as "power gears" or something like that. I also watched the first season with the official bluray subs (whats really great is that the blurays COME with subs in English, so you get real canon subtitles on an imported disc) but I do not remember any official subs saying anything about a "power gear". Is this something new they added just to appeal to Nanoha fans? Power Gears are the new Magical Devices? Nanami already stole Subaru from Striker's hair and now she has her skates. Leo stole Subaru's shorts, so I can't really complain as Nanoha is pretty great, but it still seems a bit odd. Now they all can fly and shoot beamspam and danmaku? Dog Days Dash is now Nanoha meets Touhou.

The weird lovey-dovey 'I fell in love with you" stuff coming out of Couver's mouth is odd. I know Nanoha fans ship Nanoha and Fate since it's pretty obvious they're a couple, but I don't recollect either of them straight out saying they love each other like Couver said to Becky. Couver also said something to the effect of wanting to have "many first times" with Becky. I really hope they didn't add this just to appeal to the Nanoha x Fate fans, as I think the ambiguity of the Nanoha x Fate relationship is what many people enjoyed, not such straightforwardness. It left a bad taste in my mouth as it's just something they're doing to ramp up the pandering.

Now for the absolute WORST part of the entire episode, which I'm sure many of you agree: The Rebecca transformation scene. I hope someone from SevenArcs is reading this and can understand English. I love you SevenArcs, but I am seriously wondering WTF you were thinking.

The transformation scene was so sexual and over-the-top that it GREATLY made me worry about the direction the series is going. As a huge fan of Dog Days, I loved how everything in season one was so fun and innocent. The little ecchi parts could be written off a being very mild fanservice and it was usually fun and in good taste. There was never anything overly sexual about Dog Days to the point where I loved to tell people that the show is for anyone, male or female, that could see past a tiny bit of fanservice and just wanted to watch a super cute show with lots of action and above all, fun.

HOWEVER, the transformation scene was far too sexual. Don't get me wrong, I love ecchi shows, I loved Seikon no Qwaser, Ladies vs Butlers, etc, but when I want to watch a show like that I will go watch a show like that. Dog Days to me is a series which is supposed to be morally above that level of cheap pandering to the lowest level denominator content. I do not know who OK'd that scene, but it was so different from the tone of any scene I have ever seen an any other episode of the series it made me shake my head knowing that I now have to tell people that while season 1 is great, season 2 is far more for a mature audience simply because of one scene in episode 2. The scene felt like it needed to be in a hentai, and that is not the Dog Days I know and love. I'm very curious as to if Masaki Tsuzuki actually OK'd that scene, or whether it was totally up the the new director who has never worked on anything Nanoha or Dog days before. Even though nanoha had transformation scenes (which makes sense because it's a magical girl show), they never went that far. I'm not a huge prude when it comes to ecchi content in my cartoons, but this was just so out of place with everything else.

As far as the animation for the scene goes, I was not too keen on all the CG used. HOWEVER, immediately prior to, and immediately after the CG, there were sequences of really nice handdrawn art. I loved those. It was very neat and reminded me of the episode 11 concert scene for season one which was my favorite sequence ever from the first season. The animation reminded me of a scene drawn by Ko Yoshinari from the very first episode of the first season of Nanoha, a scene which was out of place with the rest of the series because the animation was so amazing. Please, I want to see more of these animation sequences. Even if their wasn't much cleanup done around the models, and it looked definitely rough, it was great animation and it really stood out to me as something that had a lot of charm that only animation that was all fully done by most likely one person could be.

Still, Dog Days remains one of my favorite series that I really hope goes on for many many seasons. I am definitely looking forward to episode 3, and seeing Becky fly around shooting danmaku on her broom like Marisa Kirasame from Touhou. Please, please just don't turn Dog Days into another fan-pandering borderline porn harem show that is only different from all the other harem shows because all the girls have animal ears. That is not what made season one great, and it sure as hell won't make season 2 great either. Keep up the action, keep up the cuteness, but please Junji Nishimura, go watch season 1 again and realize that season 1 was not popular because of naked schoolgirls hugging giant rods between their legs and looking like they're having an orgasm.

I love this series so I hate to pick it apart... but there is no way nanami should have been evenly matched with Cinque.. when she has had 0 battle experience..

And the tentacle-esque transformation of Rebecca was a effing retarded.. I get the feeling the second season is going to turn a brilliant anime into another series that thinks they can only get viewers with mucho unnecessary fan service. I seriously hope this is not the case. Getting tired of seeing good animes ruined in second/third seasons cause of all the stupid perverts.

It was a great episode although i have to say the Rebbeca transformation seemed alittle out of place and maybe alittle too much fanservice. The only other thing that left me alittle pissed is that they skipped out on Cinque and Gauls fight, i was anticipating a rematch after they where interuputed in season one but i gues i didn't quite get that rematch but rather a out of place transformation... i will atleast say thanks for the extra fanservice i got as a result though no matter how weired it was.

Indeed with all the GIFs done and a rather insane mood took me over as I did like 96 of them O_O. I can say safely that in the spoiler
are all of the ones I made that prove that despite being a little tweaked it does not deny suggestive tentacle rape, tentacle fondling and ass slapping along with Rebecca's nude body.

I also concluded that the animals in this series are like that cause for them machines are most likely nothing whereas to humans they are to be considered. At least if I was a girl I would most likely be traumatized. I am just surprised Rebecca came to conclusion in the middle that it's not bad and on the opposite got happy of it. That is shown in the spoiler
where clearly there is shows she passed through it.

IMO at first she was not OK with it at all. Mainly and most likely the naked part. I would not be surprised when the bath parts come Rebecca will be the most blushed out less she came in accordance with her body.

That being said 200%? Yep it's there more now.

That's OK we all know it will make more $$$ and thus a future S3 would be great to follow up on the series.

You must have missed out the bukkake part with the monster near episodes 9/10. That was already over the top slime cumming. That was nothing light. What was light before that was the underwear stuff. That was cool TBH.

I don't agree with you. Certainly the scene was hentai and over the top but there were efforts made to include colors and art in it. Else they would put Rebecca totally naked with nipples and shiny skin parts like with other shows.Clearly dog days deserves nothing but:

for doing that. Clearly I hope for blanks and ass shots. Needs no nipples nor over the top details Suggestions OK! As S1 there was one of cumming liquid white stuff. However more than that and I am with you against the perversion in this show.

They are not. Surely suggestion of that might but ultimately unlike other shows if it does not put the nipples stuff then it should be fine. That's something I would worry over as a desperate measure to get money. Other than that, I respect your reaction to it and hope you might get used to THE 200% upped stuff. CHEERS!

Holy crap. I always knew Dog Days was partly a fanservice show, but Becky's transformation sequence was almost too much. Still, at least it was sort of artful and not the usual magical girl thing.

Hell of a nice figure on Nanami, and I'm certainly not going to complain about a double dose of Mizuki Nana.

At first I was put off by the realization there were going to be three 'heroes' this time around, but it's starting to grow on me I guess. This season certainly seems to be a different beast from the last. Are they going to shoehorn in another pointless 'force of darkness' plot or is it going to be all huggy war all the time? Here's hoping it stays good.

that transformation scene just ruined the episode. it did not need to be that provocative. you could tell they went out of their way to make certain angles appear the way they did. in addition this episode felt somewhat awkward....like they had to explain everything. understandably so, but still, i suppose this show wont really pickup till after Ep. 4.

That henshin what the fuck. That was... what the fuck. Also what the fuck. I hope that was a one-time thing only.

But the rest of the episode was incredible. Squirrel-chan pretty much proposed to Becky. This season is off to such an amazing start.

As for the name debate:
Shinku = Direct romanization of Japanese pronunciation
Cinque = Spelling he was given in official art at some point during season one, presumably reflecting that he's half-British (not that Cinque sounds terribly British to me)
Sink = Name he had in the official subtitles on the season one Japanese BDs (yes the JP release had English subs)
For Rozen Maiden, the English used Shinku so I find the change of his name very disturbing....

As I've noticed, anime sure has changed direction from where the classics were going and Dog Days is kind of an exception but it looks like the naming system will follow current trends...

Great episode! :D I am usually not a big fan of transformation scenes but this one was pretty original. Becky is such a cutie and she is my favorite among the girls in this show. I hope she will kick the other teams asses in the next episode with some nice magics. ♥

Very surprising. Didn't expect such a tentacle rape-like transformation with all those wires in Rebecca's transformation from such an innocent anime. Didn't detract anything, but I hope the anime doesn't shy away from that innocence it had in the first season.. It's what made me like this anime.

This. Wasn't expecting it at all o.O

My impressions of this episode of Dog Days'... wow.

O_O
You do realize it's Shinku... Shi as in Shit ... >_< Even when spelled as Cinque... the Ci is like Si(Spanish).... The way the official sub lists him as sink might be a way to try and correct people....

To be honest, the battle wasn't so bad how it was dragged out... They tried to show off how the characters have changed but if you ask me, Nanami shouldn't be able to fight equally with Shinku... that really bothered me... Shinku fought with the fully powered sword Paladium before against the demon sword-evolved fox pup so I think something was wrong there.... It's like putting a rocket up against an arrow... they don't come out equal. I was disappointed about this fact.

And the war goes on, with a third side this time! The squirrels have their own hero now. What was up with Rebecca's transformation scene though? It was a little umm... questionable. xD

Nanami didn't mind Shinku seeing her without her armor on huh? :P
