| Jason's one of the most wholesome fighters out there but he's definitely not a pushover! His determination towards fighting for those who had been with him after all this time is very admirable. I'm looking forward to their match. Ippo's head has taken quite a beating and thinking about it makes my skull hurt too. |

| First time commenting on this series, and I just wanted to say they did a helluva job introducing and building up Jason. I mean, he is a foreigner that seems scary on paper and looks menacing on the ring, and then they show us this kind hearted person that has a lot on his shoulders and is very empathetic towards everyone. This creates a lot of emotional weight on the fights, I mean, the way they build most fighters on this series. Dont forget that in Japan, racial discrimination is real, and even if today things seem to be changing for the better, these kinds of stories are important, especially 20 years ago (even if they are not "perfect"). Really enjoying Hajime no Ippo, its fun and has a lot of entertainment value, while also being about the characters and their journeys. So balanced. |
