Help understanding Strawberry Panic Episodes 7 and 13 (SPOILERS)

Ok, so as I was watching this anime, I couldn't help but wonder, what were Kaname's and Momomi's motives for sabotaging Aname's and Hikari's relationship?
I re-watched both Episode 7 and 13 for almost 5 times, and all I could conclude was - absolutely nothing.
A little help please? :)

This show is one of the most horrible things I have ever seen and just friggin SUCKS. Stop trying to make sense of the shit that's going on there.

Also this should go into the sub forum of the series.

I deeply and strongly agree. I wanted to kill myself more then 248028429 times during the first half of it because of all the retarded giggling and blushing (and Tamao getting off on Nagisa screaming, Amane having a GPS horse etc.).
But somewhere around episode 14 it starts to be just as interesting as when Diego finds out his mother is his half sister and she is in love with him.
And the character development (if there is anything of that sort) does not see itself through.
Gosh, I think I'm going to review this ^^

PS: I realized. They want to be the Etoile.

Wasn't because they wanted to take the place of Etoile? And if Amane were to enter with Hikari, they would probably win...
