| That was... certainly something. For a while I thought the whole series was going to be in this style, but hopefully it was just creators screwing with us. I still don't know what to expect from the rest of the show. |

| [Watching in broadcast order] As much as I really dislike "moe" girls this fiction based B movie was hilarious. Wonder what this SOS Brigade is. This was a hilarious first episode though. |

| I like Suzumiya Haruhi ideals. She changes hair everyday that thats what Im gonna do if I born as a girl. I also like that she is different from ordinary people just like me. Its like she is living in a different world. SOS was formed. ED song: 3/5 Episode: 3.9/5 Not the best start but Haruhi has potential (not the title) |

| That's one hell of a way to start a series, lol. This Haruhi character sure is something else. Kyon's swag level is over a million. I love his sarcastic attitude, and it's something I can definitely relate to. |

| This is my first time watching this anime and I've got to say, the first episode looks promising but kind of generic. From what I've heard, this changes later in the series so I'll keep watching to see what happens. |

| It took few minutes for my brain to figure it out that this was a short amateur film filmed by high school students. What a way to start a show, props to them. Edit: Watching in broadcast order. I see not many people do that here. |

| I knew what this was going to be before watching, but honestly, I can't imagine the puzzlement of spectators watching this on TV when it first aired. Also, thinking of all the efforts and details that were put in this episode to make it look like it didn't take any effort at all, made it even more funny. |
| Well, good to see Haruhi again! Since this was just released on Crunchyroll, I decided to re-watch it. I watched it years ago (one of my first intros to anime) and I wanted to watch it with older eyes, hopefully from a different perspective. I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode, it was just as I remembered it. I also forgot how pervy Haruhi was, it's amazing what one may overlook when they're younger (I don't know how, it was blatantly obvious, but whatever.) Haruhi is what first got me interested in what I'm currently majoring in at university, and what I share a deep love-hate relationship with: philosophy (Thanks, Haruhi ;p) Also, Haruhi says that important things (like asking someone out) should not be done over the phone, but face to face. I have followed this religiously since I first watched Haruhi. It's funny to look back and rediscover where I got certain practices from, I guess. I'm looking forward to watch the rest of this series, so join me, and I'll take you to a place where wishes come true. What? Wrong anime? Dang it. |

| Out of all the things I didn't expect in this episode, it had to be the talking cat, wow. "It was ventriloquism" lol I think this was an effective 'first episode' and I'm interested to see where the series is going! |
| This was the funniest episode of an anime I have ever watched, simply brilliant! It had a very Terry Pratchett kind of vibe to it. Loved it, loved it, loved it. |

| Deciding to finally watch this in the middle of the night with a headache was a good idea and I totally won't regret it in the morning. Haven't seen this before but I have watched Haruhi-chan a billion times so I have a unique perspective. It was odd already seeing the club only just getting started. Anyway a decent start until Mikuru showed up, I fucking hated that speech about moe, Haruhi sounded like one of those executives currently ruining the industry. You know gotta get all that otaku money. |

| I'm watching this on Funimation, so my 1st ep is different from what everyone else saw. In this ep, Haruhi started the SOS Brigade. The girl is just too much. Instead of getting swept up in her rhythm, they should all just run the other way. |

| Wow, Mikuru's opening was too cute haha. She was about to start crying every second. I have no idea of how the hell I'm supposed to be watching this. All explanations made me regret doing it but this episode was so much fun. Wish me luck. |

| Starting, I had no idea what was happening lol. I was even confused whether I had accidentally watched a spin-off or something because the title clearly said Haruhi Suzumiya (watching on Netflix) but why was there this Asahina Mikuru girl? Then I realised this must be a sort of movie they're making because it said "Directed by Suzumiya Haruhi". That was one of the funniest opening episodes I've ever watched. I'm not much of a fan of comedy anime, that is I might like them but the comedy rarely makes me laugh. The only ones that did were OreGairu season 1 and Kaguya-sama, but this first episode was so hilarious in its corniness and making absolutely no sense. Hooked me right into it. Though I got confused by all the discussions of broadcast and chronological order so had to research a bit lol Time to see the rest of the series and see why this series has been so popular and influential. |

| I'm watching the entire series in chronological order so I only got to this episode after watching the "Sighs" arc in Season 2 so it makes a lot more sense - I'm not sure how well this would actually work as an introduction to the franchise. Nevertheless, I found it absolutely fudging hilarious - hearing some of the best voice actors of our generation (Johnny Yong Bosch et al.) doing intentionally terrible deadpan delivery had me in stitches! |

| Never did I think a day would come that I'd be watching this anime, but now 15 years later, here I am. The fact that there are so many nice anime figures of Haruhi out there made me cave in, and give this a shot. Haruhi is certainly a bit "out there," lol. |

| Damn, reading this forum is making my head explode. Personally, I don't get why people watch the chronological order. It's like watching Baccano or Pulp Fiction in the "right" order. It just beats the purpose of it. To me, it makes more sense watching the way the original creator wanted to. But preference is preference. Anyways, for the show itself, I really liked the narration. I hope it stays. And the MC changing seats sitting beside the window? Certified MC. And as for Haruhi's character, I personally dont find her annoying. And as for the dub goes, I'm really like it—a lot of well-received VAs. |
