Someone correct me if I am wrong, but weren't the seconds on the microwave related to the time the D-mail needs to go into the past? One second equalling one hour? Then 17 years would be 8766 hours x 17 (for a Julian year), which would mean 149022 seconds for the microwave in total. I doubt any microwave has that option. Also, the mail needed to be sent when the mother was pregnant, so it would be closer to 18 years.

In any case, did they forget about that time rule? Or did they come up with a work around? Why wasn't it explained and is it explained in the VN?

Microwave's dial is a dummy already. Daru's X68000 (legendary Japanese retro PC which released in 1987) is real control unit now. If you rewatch episode, you can get it.

Now I have a feeling that Okarin is not only able to maintain his memory from previous line, but also include some power involve with his intention of each mail. I can hardly be convinced that just telling Ruka's mom to eat vegetable and she will get the message, or do so, or turn him into her by doing so. I'm thinking that Okarin intend to change the past so it changed, something like Takumi could do in ChaoS;HEAd

Fantastic episode as usual. I've never been into traps, so I'm glad that...Urushibara-san got changed (at least I'm with the majority, it was heavily implied that the sex change operation...mission was a success.) 5/5, can hardly wait for the next episode. I also wonder what Moeka is up to.

this just in! Ruoko is actually a girl. if you read the most recent chapter in the steins gate manga (6: Incredible Homostasis II) youll see that "he" has now become a "she", even though the story leads up to it in a different way. this was a shock to me as i did not think they would do that to ruko and in my opinion, its on the border between 1. strange, awkward and wrong and 2. sort of interesting. But what i cant wait for is for steiner to try and poke fun again at the fact that ruko is a boy when he really isnt any more. Im thinking he may actually feel her up like in the manga to see if he still has "jewels" and cause her to run out crying. Im wondering if steiner will even be able to get them to believe that ruko was a boy in one of the other universes or not. Two things are for sure though, one; this series is dreadfully addictive and secondly, i cannot wait any longer for the next episode.

Decent episode. I also think Ruka became a girl - Mayuri from the other time universe wouldn't have agreed with Kurisu about Okarin being a pervert for looking @ Ruka(seeing as Mayuri knew he was a male and Kurisu didn't..)

Had me LOL:

Lol It was only a matter of time

-My soul has been devoured – well, Okarin just gone too far this time :D

Rukako is officially gay >.<
Isn’t changing someone’s gender a bad idea?(his is the first cleaver thing I hear from Daru :D)

Anyway, I got good idea about how can he assure his team, that he really changes the past with D-mails.

I guess we'll find out for sure if Ruka became a girl next ep. (But eating vegetables makes you a girl? Haha, what bullshit.)

Interesting -- the whole "you're a pervert / no I'm a pervert gentleman" thing happened with Okabe outside talking to Suzuha before, and in this ep he was in the room for it.

I agree, mostly because Ruka being a boy was basically what kept him as a somewhat important element in the series up until now. I love Ruka and I feel like making him a girl caused him to just blend in with the other girls.

Bah! What are these time-cowboys doing?

Changing something so far in the past is just asking for a causality clusterfuck, and what is the point in a change like boy to girl, if you're never going to remember the change or what it was like before. Bah, kids these days!

Speaking of kids these days, none of them had heard of pagers? Bah! I'm off to grab my walking stick, claim my pension and shake my fist at the sky.

I'd imagine it would be very easy to get over excited and over step your bounds in a case like this and I have a feeling they are getting very close to it. I find the idea that you can find out sex purely by the chest unbelievable, though.

Wow, you'd think Rintarou would be more cautious with such random requests that can change the past, but no!

Ruka...is an idiot...of proportions I've never dreamed of. Eating vegetables will change your gender, lolwhat? Although I think he--> she at the end since Mayuri called him Ruka-chan.

Well, I think Ruka became a girl since before the experiment Mayuri used to reffer to him as "Ruka-kun" and after the D-Mail was sent, she called him "Ruka-chan".

Well if he'd stay like this despite being a boy, then I'd rather he be a girl.

Needs more awesome males, this show. Though Okarin more than makes up for 10 of them.

And he has guts changing the past, considering the consequences. Just an SMS can eradicate memories and has the potential to cause major catastrophes. I wish Kurisu else also had the 'Reading Steiner' ability.

Oh well, it's just a minor flaw of his, I guess.
And Moeka's as fast as always when it comes to replying.
Oh Dal. You pervert
Oh Ruka, finally. Now I won't have to feel bad for liking a trap.

On another note, the VN's so full of awesome lines that 90% here won't ever hear. It's kind of sad.
And instead, they add a bunch of "tuturuu"s in places where there weren't any to begin with.

From what I understand he retains the memories of the timeline before the message is sent and the timeline that is created after sending the message. If you think about it, that's a lot of memories there and it would only be natural for the "older" memories to overshadow the new ones.

Anyway the plot is certainly advancing fast now, it's at that point where the viewer simply needs to know what's coming next!

WOAH. I felt they introduced this plot idea in a really rushed way, but it had to happen sometime and now was a good place. Good pacing!

Wait, why would the phone beep for a new message when it was sent 5 days ago?
Hmm.

Anyways, this show is really amazing.

After the excellent episode 7 another great episode, love the tense atmosphere with some jokes inserted in between, this is far better than what they did with some of the previous episodes.

I have a question about this episode. Some episodes ago they explained that every second on the timer is hour into the past.... So to send a message to 18 years ago it would have to be a huge number, but the timer in the anime says 120 second and that is 5 days.
Is this an error o does it have some explanation??

Keep watching :/
