Is it worthwhile reading from the start in terms of the manga having extra details or more character development?
I love Ghost Story but am kind of busy right now so don't really wanna repeat stuff I saw in the anime. (I know this is kind of a lame attitude but yeah - seriously don't have much spare time atm)

Yes there are few important differences in manga and anime including Shibuya's past like his motivation for exploring paranormal phenomena. So I would say you should read manga from the beginning.
