This series is a horror, yet production aren't even trying to make it unnerving.
Never once has there been a scene to make you jump, there is little enthesis on the isolation aspect, fear or bereivement, considering this is a series and not an hour and a half film, there is plenty o time to focus on the 'horror' aspect.

Horror? Don't make me laugh. I never believed HoTD should ever be considered as horror anyways.
Face it, if u're watching HoTD for the thrills, you're obviously gonna get dissapointed.

It's still a horror series and has all the potential to expand it's development.
Also, yes, I was hopeing for a bit of a deep storyline, I'm not too dissapointed, as this is empressing me, yet they could do more to appeal to the masses. I'm an optimistic person, so I belive things will take a turn for the better (eventually).;)

The manga was always like this and Madhouse is adapting is very closely, with some revamps with the fanservice, gore and some extra scenes. But there is always a difference in media. Manga and anime always and will be different in how they set up the story and the atmosphere. There will always be some aspects lost in adaptation, as well as some improvements made. It's how you see and enjoy the show now is the question.

But then again, people who look at the same thing do not really see the same thing. Think about that ;)

5/5. Great action and thrills and even the inroduction of Alice!

But meh, the fanservice, a little less exaggerated then the last episode, was probably still in the high zone, so I guess it's fine.

Nothing much to say, though I hated the household that killed Alice's dad. I was almost pissed off when I saw that. -_-

Hilarious. Everyone saying that there was too much fanservice is basically saying "FUCK MADHOUSE FOR STAYING TRUE TO THE MANGA".

And yet, if they didn't stay true to the manga, even more people would say "FUCK MADHOUSE".

Read the damn manga. It's the same shit. "Too much" relative to what? Definitely not to the source. And if you came into this expecting punches pulled, you didn't read enough about the show, let alone the manga itself.

Thanks for doing the manga justice, Madhouse.

^Best quote about fan-service for this anime.

Good ep, the anime Chapters/anime per ep seems to be increasing.

Expected nothing less because I already read the manga.

Nonsense

The only difference between the anime and the manga, is that the manga had more gore and violence than its anime adaptation. You'd see the bite marks on the zombies, guts being spilled and brains devoured, severed limps here n' there, etc.

Actually though, that's what makes something 'horror'. Horror is not about the atmosphere, that something that a thriller requires to be successful, and HotD is not a thriller neither as an anime nor as a manga.

Ofcourse with that being said, atmosphere works for horror too. Besides a good compination between a horror and a thriller is always a successful, even in the case of a zombie apocalypse, which is more horror oriented than thriller.

But anyway, I don't know where you saw it but I never felt the manga had any kind of atmosphere. Just like the anime, it was just about gore, pantsu, boobs bouncing and zombie ass kicking. A perfect "b movie", that is. If anything, the anime lowered the gore scenes and heightened the action and fanservice scenes.

Besides all that, Hirano is awesome!

Too bad GG's version is censored too. Who subbing the uncensored one? Sigh...

Nande Kisama?

Listen i dont know where you saw 2 chapters/episodes full of naked girls just moaning and loaning around naked and grabing cocks in the manga but for me its clear that the ecchi factor is much higher in the anime its almost a soft porn as stated before the ecchiness could have been implemented much better and if you reread my little girl example much friendlier with the other parts of it

I dont have a problem with ecchiness but this is clearly on the border of hentai and is hurting the anime itself.
If they keep it like this i wanna see you after 10 episodes of hotd and wanna see if you are still that excited about that shit.

Huh? That's what I said too... "If anything, the anime lowered the gore scenes and heightened the action and fanservice scenes. "

But not by much, if you think about it.. In the anime, there maybe were a few extra scenes with ecchi that were not in the manga. But when the manga was up to delivering fanservice it was more hardcore than the anime, you have to admit. Nipples and all, not foam or steam covering them. Well, unless you were reading some censored version... I don't know.

Another great episode. Shizuka really is a dumb blonde ^_^;.

IMO, I think Hirano stole the episode, with his being badass and his comedic nosebleed/erection moment. The scene with Takeshi on the motorcycle was pretty awesome, too. I liked the insert song that was playing during that scene. I can't wait to see how much of the plot this "Alice" girl is going to support in the coming episodes.

Madhouse is really keeping up the momentum in this anime. At this point, I'm seriously considering getting this series on DVD.

Best episode so far (or even ever in action packed anime I've seen?). They didn't waste one moment, great action scenes. The final rescue mission was perfectly paced. There was also some good humor, and I liked the way the characters decided to save the girl anyway. A bit of bravery and heart in that forsaken world. I also enjoyed the music this episode, probably because they finally got really flashy cuts to go together with it. Anyway, the show just keeps getting better and better in terms of enjoyment. Realism, not exactly (I mean how the hell did they manage to keep on top of the car at such speed?), but who cares!

That being said, the dog gets on my nerves, the barking is annoying ant it’s drawn like from a Ghibli movie which is kind of stupid ;)

Hirano is so damn LUCKY!!! and I just can't get enough of Saeko.....

That said, I felt the episode was really good. As mentioned by it touched on humanity (which you don't see much in most anime) and even though the peeing scene was a bit awkward it showed the protagonists was responsible and mature; in most other anime this would've probably been turned into some comedy scene with weird (but funny) expressions

Everyone keeps praising, but is there really no downside?

Think about it, the characters can be so stupid sometimes. It's like the writer wanted to show "how evil human become in apocalyptic circumstances". If so, then do it right, and not in a way like this.

It's so obvious when Saeko try to act all intelligent and make clear to us viewers how EV1L HUM4NZ AR3 LOLOLOL!1 And it kind of gets annoying, her role as a true woman who supports a man by his decision. Like Takashi is the only one who's good in the group (omg such a hero!!).

Stupid characters having stupid ideas. Instead of clearing the zone for Takashi with Hirano's arms first, they'd rather ride through with a humvee and leave him in grave danger. And it's so scary to put items in the car! Oh, why don't they just park it in the of the door?

Yes, I'm ranting, and yes it's just an anime. But goddamn, don't try to pretend like there's logic, if there isn't any. If you want people to watch brainlessly, make it really brainless. Don't come up with wannabe plans.

I don't hate the anime, otherwise I wouldn't watch it. But sometimes, it can get pretty retarded, and everyone just keep telling how great it is, without saying the flaws.

In this episode, the sword-weilding, purple-haired highschooler wore nothing but an apron and a thong while standing atop a Humvee as it plowed through zombies.

Do you really want situations more brainless than that?

I guess you want more zombies to show up :P

Is it a trend to write like 7h1s when you're quoting someone who you want to make him appear as stupid or immature?

And Takashi was not the first to take action to save the girl, it was Hirano.

And you're the one with the stupid ideas, there were a freaking lot of zombies, they did not have the time to pick them off one by one with Hirano's sniping. Butting in with the Humvee was the best way to go. And even so, with so many zombies right out of the front door, even the Humvee could not overrun them all, Hirano said that himself before. Their course of action was the best one.

The anime does have a lot flaws but that were not them. Try harder next time! ;)

For me the fanservace is getting a little bit overused, not enough to ruin the series, just diminish it a little. I was plenty prepared for excessive fanservace after the first episode made it quite clear that it was going to be a main staple of HOTD, and I was completely fine with that since zombies pretty much mean free reign to go over the top and do whatever the hell you want. Its just a bit hard for me to feel the suspense and drama of the series when every five seconds you have half naked women proving that perpetual motion is possible with the power of giant boobies.

(And as a side note, I would gladly risk a zombie apocalypse if that meant that I got to be surrounded by four pairs of giant jiggly breasts attached to almost unrealistically hot women)

Honestly, do you think this show would be worth watching if it DIDN'T have tons of fanservice? What I mean is: if there wasn't an absurd amount of Gainaxing™ and invisible clothes, the story and character interactions would blow ass. Fanservice is just that, fanservice. The story and characters are interesting, but the fanservice pulls it all together.

Studios can't just pull masterpiece stories with engaging plots and dynamic characters out of their asses. They have quotas to meet. Shows like this aren't meant to be remembered forever for an amazing story. (This was a manga anyway; unfortunately, I haven't read it, but from what I understand, MADHOUSE is doing a good job of adapting, so my argument is valid.)

Also, I sure as hell ain't complaining about the FS, it helps me enjoy the show!

Nice episode! There was a lot of good action, but also a lot of weird fanservice like girls moaning in their sleep like they are having a really wild dream (I think it was a little bit lame). But what a harem there is now - a pretty normal girl, arrogant smart aleck, tomboy beauty, blonde teacher and a child.
