It's been going downfall for at least an year now.

Unfortunately simulcasts drain energies from the old groups (in the end, subbed simulcasts are done from people who get paid to do the same job fansubbers were doing for free and for fun) and there seem to be little to none new people in the fansub scene. No new people who do the job and doesn't tweak others' subs, at least.

I still try to stick to homebrew fansubs, but the last season I couldn't do it for all the shows (Sraiya Goyou) and even during last fall (Natsu no Arashi! Akinaichuu). I really hope this joint between StrikeS and Underwater WILL take place, I'm willing to wait for their releases even for a long time.

On the topic of fansubs, all we can do is stay strong. Protest companies like CR and Funimation, don't watch their releases and tell your friends not to either. Share piracy with everyone around you and together, we can take these fuckers trying to capitalize on our hobby down.

Well, I'm all for legal subs in idea anyway but the legal subbing so far is sad both in quality of translation and quality of the video file as a whole. Unless CR actually makes an effort to improve their quality, I really think we shouldn't support them, just to pressure them to improve. Otherwise they won't make the effort. After all, if you get consumers regardless of the effort put into the product, why should you waste time improving said product?

More what is this I don't even from MAL comments...

[Underwater is] not a fansub group. TV quality video plastered onto archaic stream quality "translations" ripped from a stream-shit corp by scum-sucking, backwards imbeciles. The trash will lovingly eat it up. Wait for BD-rips from a group that uses modern translations.

What the heck is an "archaic" translation?
What the heck is a "modern" translation?
By putting the word translation in "quotes", is the implication that the text is somehow not a translation of the dialogue to English?
How does the end-user distribution medium (stream, TV, optical disc) influence the quality of the translation?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.

Everything that connects to MAL
