In my opinion, it's not better than Season 1, Part 2, but I 100% do prefer it over Season 1, Part 1.

& let's be real, Season 2, Part 1 is the best Slice of Life anime you could ever find.

A lot of people seemed bored by it but personally I loved it. And with season 2 part 2 right now we’re seeing what it’s been setting up for. Probably the weakest part but still an important set up to things to come.

As a LN reader, it cuts more content in S2P1 as compared to both parts of S1. I have not seen S2P2.

If I recall correctly, the weakest parts of Mushoku Tensei is from Volume 18 to Volume 22. Volume 18 is bad as COTE Y1V2 (I am not exaggerating).

Just the openings and their "videoclips" are enough from me to want to to at every follow-up season. I'm so unraged that I will never see those kind of op again... saddening.

Plus I enjoyed S1P1 much more than S2P1. Laughed more, felt the stakes, the ending was much more powerful. In the all part he made like 4 friends, 3 acquaintances (the grandpa, his dad and mom). When Rudy left his home, 2 eps later I was worried about Sylphie and wanted to how everyone was doing... in S2, the group he fought with for a while: don't give a damn. Soldat? Don't give a damn. I could hear that he died a gruesome death and won't bat an eye.
And don't even get me started on S1P2... when Ruijerd spoke at the end of the newest episode... I could have cried fr... tears were coming, but thanks God the episode ended or else I would have been uglycrying for a MINUTE! 😭😭

Love that show, 10/10. imma lay down for a moment

having read the entire LN, I can say that there hasn't been an arc I don't like, but the school arc (volumes 8-9/most of s2p1) is my least favorite

I really like it, the first season has way more action and adventure for sure. But second season to me had a lot of character development, and mental and emotional problem solving , which had to happen after what happened to Mc in end of season 1 part 2. Thers parts in season 2 part one that made feel very emotionaly uncomfortable or feeling bad / sad for characters in the show , which did not happen in season 1.

Definitely very different then season 1, and for out of all the seasons/ parts so far I rated season 2 part 1 the highest, because it was so different from season 1 and because it was so diffrent from any other isekai I’ve seen, and made me feel emotions no other isekai did. Which is a big thing when any show can make feel emotional, but for isekai that’s a huge thing, usually not a very emotional genre.

To sum up (sorry so long) imo season 2 part one had way less adventure and action, but way more character development and emotional moments which to me made it a very unique isekai. Also season 2 part one Opening sequence with the red blue and green/ white birds and the song was also a great touch. And although all parts are good my favorite so far was season 2 part 1, but could just be me.

You said what I was thinking and I agree.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Don’t really think there is much to compare as the seasons are completely different vibes and focus on different themes and environments. I like them both but for different reasons. Season one is a great fantasy anime with awesome world building and interesting characters. while season 2 is a lot more character driven and character focused and tells a very serious and personal story with Rudy’s ED which if not handled correctly can leave audiences feeling like this is unserious or a giant troll. Both are great for completely different reasons. like comparing Gurren Lagann to Bakemonogatari.

Id say s2 part 1 is worse than season 1 part 1 and 2 but like people have been saying it's to set up stuff that gonna happen which is fine also season 2 part 1 has the best opening theme so far so it gets a pass

I loved all parts so far, but I definitely like S2 P1 over S1 P1 and S1 P2. S2 P1 is much more character driven than S1 and it's just the right combination of romance, drama, adventure and plot that I like in anime.

s2 part 1 was about the depression but it was too quick it's kinda hard to top s1 with the mana explosion ghaline dragon god that will pretty hard to top but still like s2 as much as s1

Season 2 part one is a slow burn but fairly interesting. There is a lot of character building that happens as well. I am loving the part 2 of season 2 as well. It's difficult to wait for a week to catch the new episodes 😔
