Your Thoughts on School Days as a Horror

Would you say School Days can count as Horror?

The characters gradually grow insane, until they end up killing each other. Not just that their always hiding something from each other. They have indecisive behavior which causes lots of conflict and could have caused not just happy relationships and better friendship, but it could have also spared lives. What are your thoughts? Do you think you would count this anime as a horror?

to me it's much more of a soap opera with everyone sleeping with everyone behind their backs, all that melodrama and even them killing each other seems to fit that genre quite well

I think it's more like thriller with insanity context. You wouldn't call some thriller where in the end one of the charecters kills the other a horror, would you?

I wouldn’t say it’s horror, it’s more psychological and suspenseful than anything. It becomes more gripping as the show goes, and it really peers into just how wrong things can go if you make the wrong decisions.

at first I thought it would be a horror anime because I first heard about it by people who talked bad stuff about it. then i listened to itou kanako's "Kanashimi no Mukou he" and thought that it might have been a Elfen Lied-like horror anime.

It was not. i was looking for copper, but I ended up finding Gold.

labelling it as a horror would ruin the show as viewers would expect horror scenes or anything relating to horror. The ending was incredible due to no one anticipating such an end especially for a romance anime.
it could instead be labelled as psychologically disturbing.

I applaud this anime. I never felt more uncomfortable and tension watching an anime like mother fuckin’ school days. Makoto was a pimp too bad them girls were dumb enough to let him fuck em all.

Ending was quite horrific, but that doesn’t make it a horror show by any means. not sure if I’m making any sense. psychological thriller would be a more fitting description
