I would have such a hard time with this, I think that it's really easy to appreciate different things about each one. I'll say that Joseph and jolyne are probably at the top if I had to choose top two though.

1. Jolyne (cant descrive how much i love her, the most badass jojo and she uses her stand most creatively than other jojos without it being broken)
2. Josuke4 (best personality, very laidback and someone you can befriend easily. good hearted but don't hold back from fights)
3. Joseph (most funny and creative Jojo tbh but cheating is a big NO)
4. Jotaro ( went through probably the most ptsd inducing shit, has little emotional range but i consider him to be the most important Jojo. Also best design)
5. Josuke8 (funny 4balls man, tbh liked his personality more than jotaro but he only appeared in 1 part)
6. Johnny (his life was so terrible i cant help but feel sorry for him, he started out with a bad personality but becomes a badass at the end, best character development)
7. Jonathan (tbh he's more basic than other jojos, but still i like his heroism, but yea he's a pretty boring protag)
8. Giorno ( he doesn't feel like the protag of part 5 at all, nothing much to say)

Can't rank jodio yet bc we still don't know much about him

Based on what? my overall liking of them or their strength? well, I think the best way to rank them is based on overall writing.

anime + manga but I haven't read all parts:
1. Johnny
2. Gappy
3. Giorno
4. Jotaro
5. Josuke
6. Joseph
7. Jolyne
8. Jonathan

I think Jonathan clearly has the least character depth out of all of them, his entire personality is being a gentleman, but it's excusable as part 1 as a whole just isn't good and is very generic. now I'm pretty tied up between Jolyne, Joseph and Josuke because I don't think they're written badly, they're pretty good characters with solid character developments, it's just that... all 3 of them are probably the most directionless Jojos. they kind of just do what the show has them do for their corresponding season, nothing less and nothing more. while other Jojos have very clear goals, Giorno wanting to over throne the mafia, Gappy wanting to find out who he is, Johnny trying to understand Gyro's balls 😩 and possibly win the race, and even Jotaro trying to save his mother. Still, that doesn't make them bad characters, just takes a way an aspect of their writing.

He was pretty cool at the beginning, especially during the beetle fight with Jobin but became a pretty bland character in later chapters. I think his character arc reached its climax too early in the manga and the lackluster final arc didn't help at all to give him closure.
