The world premiere of the Fate/strange Fake anime special at Anime Expo 2023 announced on Saturday a television anime series for Ryohgo Narita's Fate/strange Fake light novel. The event also revealed a teaser visual (pictured above).

The text—Fake/states night—was originally placed as an April Fools joke on Narita's homepage, presented as a prologue and introduction to a role-playing game. The second volume of TYPE-MOON Ace reissued it as a stand-alone novel form under the title Fate/strange Fake in January 2009.

Kadokawa began publishing it through its Dengeki Bunko imprint in January 2015, featuring illustrations by Shizuki Morii (Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia). The eighth volume went on sale on February 10.

Type-Moon concurrently began releasing a manga adaptation by Narita and Morii digitally under its Type-Moon Books imprint the same month as the light novel, with Kadokawa publishing the print version. The fifth volume also shipped on March 10.

Synopsis
Fate/strange Fake centers around an imperfect copy of a Grail War based on the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. Following the conclusion of the third Grail War, a US-based organization with magi distinct from the London-based Mage Association, used data from Fuyuki's Grail War to plan their own ritual. Seventy years later, they used the city of Snowfield as the Sacred Land for their own Grail War. However, they were unable to successfully replicate every aspect of the ritual, resulting in it acting only as an imitation that has lost the Saber class and allowed for the summoning of strange Servants due to the blurring of the definition of a "hero."

Rohngall and his pupil, Faldeus, have been dispatched by the Mage's Association to investigate the city and the state of the war. Faldeus, a US organization spy, has Rohngall sniped upon his arrival, despite knowing that Rohngall is a puppet. He declares that their Holy Grail War has been in development and is real, causing a commotion at the Clock Tower, and that he wishes to "advertise" the project to the Association.

Stop. Didn't they announce it at the end of last year? Or are they going to release another anime as a version?

That's the problem, nobody here on this site knows what you talking about most of the time.

This is the most sudden salty comment for no reason I've seen in years. Why was our short misunderstanding so personal to you lol?

I think you may be confused with the one episode Special which was just released today-ish (and also announced a year or two ago) and the TV Series that they just announced in this post.

The one announced before was for this special episode that just aired. https://myanimelist.net/anime/53127/

It was supposed to air at the end of last year but it got delayed for production reasons. It just aired and now we got news that we're getting a full TV anime season.

It's not that hard to understand. It's also easy to look it up.

Yes, probably. I thought it was still about the original anime.

Maybe. But why does it have to be so personal? Am I hurting you by mixing up the versions of this anime?

So much for author not wanting to have an adaptation until the conclusion of the novel lol.

Yeah, well, it's pretty safe to assume this will be 20+ episode series, so they gonna adapt whats out and then somewhere in the far, far future we'll get the rest. Not to mention the author also said he can easily see this as a 16+ novel series or something, so yeah, God help us all, lol.

Given the yearly yet irregular release of volumes, I bet that'll take it over to the next decade just for the novels and full adaptation somewhere close to 2050 lol.

That was never the case. What Narita actually said is that they don't wish for a Grand Order collaboration until after it concludes. Adaptations (I mean we already have a manga) and featuring characters (e.g, Enkidu) are all still allowed.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

Not gonna lie, I would never come up with this series when mentioning the composer known for Gundam Unicorn (and NT, and Hathaway's Flash... dude must like UC), Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, etc.

Either way, the special was pretty cool and I can't wait for the full series!

I'm only a "mild" Fate fan, but I have watched almost all of the shows, and IMO, this was one of the stronger starts. If the show keeps this quality, it'll be an easy contender for top three Fate shows.
