I think the studio is trying to make it to the

and given that they only have 13 eps to work with something has to be cut. Furthermore, I think they are working on this with the assumption that there would be no season 2, so stuff that are more relevant for future developments and have less immediate relevance are first to be cut.
Even in the case that there is a second season, what has been cut can be re-inserted somewhere without too much trouble I think. This is one more reason.

Hum, impossible to not have a S2, the S1 is very good even if everybody is not watching it.

Of course they can do oav etc but she explained clearly before the confession that she was sick, so this can put more emotions on her character.

About the bridge story, it’s cool to see girls talking about love etc and then she shares that story to him…

It’s true that the love confession can be a good ending for the S1…

Incredibly easy to not have a season 2. Animes don't have a season 2 all the time.

The soundtrack listing has made it clear where this season will end and even if it means manga readers notice some stuff gets trimmed, it will mean a satisfactory conclusion to the season and a satisfactory conclusion to the series if it doesn't get a second season.

If this gets a season 2, we will see the aunt anyways so it ain't a problem
