I dropped in the middle of episode 5 because I do not like Asuna.

Is there a point in the story where there is no more Asuna so I can restart from there.

I also don't like Asuna, so I know what you feel.
To answer your question, it's the first half of Alicization.
She makes few appearances, but overall is irrelevant there.

She gets alot better soon, but honestly if you really don't like her enough to give her a shot, I reccomend dropping because she's the main love interest and even though she takes a backseat for alot of episodes, she's still very much a driving factor in most of what Kirito does.

Ooh that’s like in season 3 mate. You gotta go through 48 episodes with plots all about her for the most part:

Tbf I generally think her personality only gets worse over the seasons, becoming too clingy and obsessive about Kirito with less focus about her own character development it shows exceptionally during War of underworld.

If you don’t like her during season one where she is remotely normal, not much I can say other than drop it, there’s no point in picking up later just because you didn’t like her.

I respect your opinion about her tho it differs from mine. I also would not recommend watching this when you don't like her. It would be hard to watch..

even if I don't like Sao I agree to this. not that the rest of the cast is any better she just the least worse of the bunch. until I see Alicia in season 3 though might change there. Sinon is the most wasted potential ever.

She is less prominent in some arcs where other haremettes are being introduced, but as the primary waifu, she is ever-present and gets arcs of her own. Should probably just drop the show if you don't like her.

There's a lot of character development for her along the series, but that's alright, you gotta do what you feel like. It's just not the right anime for you coz she's almost main character for the majority of the series.
