Does it get better?

I heard the show was widely praised so I looked forward to it, but 4 ep in I can't stand it.
The animation is the only thing that keeps me going, everything else feels like pure trash.
I guess I'll give it a few more ep before stopping, but still wanted to ask -
Does it change? If the show just keeps getting more extreme with bigger and cooler looking mechas with bigger explosions and Simon keeps getting more amped up and the green mc power meter keeps going up then I'd rather not waste my time and stop here.

Absoluty yes, i think most of people drop it in ep 4, it's just character introduction, keep going. It worth it, for me is one of the best out there. Edit: i'm not gonna lie,the first time i watched 1-2 episode per weak aprox. Because the beginning is slow, but after the episode 7, is more entertaining, but don't worry, finish it, it's a short anime. And there are the 2 movies and is like the whole series again but with a lot of changes, some things i like more and some things not, you should try it.

give it to episode 9, if you don't like it by then then you probably won't like it in general, but it took til ep 8 or 9 to fall in love personally

it ramps up exponentially (literally)
if they didn't start slow, the show would have been unmanageable by the end

I heard that episode 4 had a different director or sth like that, they went for a different art style and failed.
Also, that's the only episode like that. The rest have the normal, godly animation.

kids these days have no patience it's unbearable to watch you put shame to your grandparents by acting like that. if you have hard time on lagann you are gonna do what with monster that show is 10 episodes of 74 only on the introduction.

Yes and no. The show definitely gets more hype and explosive. If you're the kind of person who value a show based on its hype moments, sure.

But also no, because as far as most are concerned, those three first episodes are among the best in anime, ever.

Truth, extremely short attention spans. This anime is enjoyable from the beginning.

The Greatest anime of All Time, and far better than its predecessor Neon Genesis Evangelion. Do not give it up, especially if you happened to have already watched NGE. You have got no clue if Episode 4 is all you have going for you under your belt.

Itns funny to saw that I'm not the only one to have dropped at episode 4 and come back some time later to watch the show. I think it gets better after episode 7 and the second part is truly what makes this one the best anime.

Those people who are mentioning Episodes 8 and 9 do so for good reason, for what it’s worth. Episodes 8 and 11 are my favorite of the series.

But based on the way you expressed your dissatisfaction with the first 4 episodes I’m not confident that it will be the same for you.

Wtf? That's the entire point of the show, bigger mechas, more amped up mc, power of friendship.

If you came in looking for something else, you're barking at the wrong door.
