Yamato's childhood summary?

Im almost finished with chapter 1 (the second chapter if you count 0). Yamato says he was from hiroshima and moved to this town to go to highschool. So they are in tokyo right now right? How does he know tokyo if hes from hiroshima? Can someone give a timeline of his childhood locations. No big spoilers please, i just want some clarity of the background
