All the buildup led up to this big fight against the enemy invaders. Takeshi and the others played their role to secure their positions.

This is pretty much a sci-fi military war-fare with tanks, mechs, etc. Tons of action i this one. I guess these final few episodes for the season will be pretty action heavy.

Extremely fast paced and intense episode as expected.

There are 4 episodes left, i wonder if they'll be enough to adapt the rest.

Really? Did they actually announce it?

It seems too much for what's left.

Nah no way sir, just imagine, let's just say they wrap up operation 21 with episode 9, so what? Even if they goin' fast paced, can you imagine they wrap up the Defence of Yokohama and also Operation Ouka? Nah no way sir, that's just 3 episode, at this point I'm sure fire 100% positive that it must get a 3rd season or some ova/movie at least, like Dies Irae, they wrap up the anime literally with like 4-5 OVA episode. Or just ends unfinished, this 2 version is possible only at this point. I always had my doubts since start but they do fast pace episodes too so wasn't sure up until this point

I think we'll get some extra special episodes, maybe longer than 20 minutes, i don't think a third cour is needed.

what if they want to gain some money from season 2 (I mean it's better season, might be better sells as well) so they can make the ending in an epic big budget movie? I mean I would've been totally sold with that idea, with enough budget the fights and feeling would be amazing in a movie, might sell even more

A final movie sounds good on paper, but it's extremely unlikely considering the low popularity.
I'll just accept whatever.

If I were a anime only I would brace myself and expect that we are not getting a third season as the most likely scenario. Good thing is it looks like they gonna do this arcs justice and not rush all the rest of the novel in 3, 4 episodes. Better leave it unfinished.

Anyway, amazing episode, sucks having to wait weekly, would binge the arc all at once otherwise.

This episode is what every episode of this show could've been. Good action, nice animation and very entertaining.

I like little conversation between characters too.

also did you guys see those mecha moves? so smooth compared to season 1 (not like I'd have any problem with these things, just happy to get my muvluv dose in anime, but still good to see mecha's in action this smooth)

Good episode. There were a couple of shots that were really, really nice. The Wadatsumis emerging from the water and the first person sequence stood out the most to me. Quite hyped for the rest of the operation!

Not likely to happen. They're exactly on pace to finish this season with the aftermath of this operation. If they get another season (which is a big if), that would adapt the rest of it.

Just for so much people to be dying and diversionary squads to hold the line just for the secret weapon to get in place... There are still dozens of hives... I dont think they will last long if that is just their strategy for the secret weapon to get in place as it takes so long to do it. The G bomb seemed to be the only way for it to work so effectively. Dont know why they dont just keep using that lol.

Those things have their own set of problems. They seem to have adverse effects due to fucking with gravity, such as no plant life growing in affected areas.

If you care a little less about spoilers for other games in the franchise:

There's no guarantee they will follow the VN for the operation's ending.
Lets wait & see first.

Another really good episode man the animation was genuinely solid. I’ve enjoyed this second season of MLA a lot. I’m sure it’s not as good as the VN, but it’s working for me.

What do you mean? I thought this was well-paced. This episode only covered 2 chapters of the manga (and bear in mind the anime is adapting the manga more than the VN directly). Sadogashima ends in volume 12 of the manga. They're 1 chapter into volume 11. If they continue to cover 2 manga chapters per episode, this season will probably end with the aftermath of Sadogashima. So they won't cover the base invasion or any material afterwards.

Nothing like Christmas with the squad killing BETA scum. Jokes aside, this was awesome, definitely makes the buildup worth it, and it looked awesome as well. At no point did I notice any animation and art dips like the ones in previous episodes, it was consistently excellent. Of course I’m also happy to be getting some mecha action finally, loved seeing humanity’s counterattack against the BETA from air, land and sea, those submarine deployed mechs were really cool too.

And it all seemed to be going well until the BETA pulled out a bit more than the invasion force could chew, so now it’s up to the Valkyries to get humanity’s secret weapon to the hive, a nice cliffhanger there as well. Surprised at no deaths yet but I’m sure they’re coming. But yeah, this was a slapping episode.

I don't know why an anime with a shoestring budget dedicates time to actually animating cars and ships instead of 100% CGI like other anime, but I am so thankful. I didn't read the VN and I didn't watch season 1, but it seems like I didn't miss all that much, if I go by the commenters. I guess there are 3 top class mecha anime this season after all. I wish Megaton Mushashi could animate their CGI mecha with half the quality this show does.

It is well paced so far, maybe i wasn't clear enough, i was just worried because i tought this cour would finish the story but i was wrong. It has also been some time since i read the VN.

3-4 minutes of action, 18 minutes of talking/in/outros, and strategy boards only to wipe and leave just the young girls and Shirogane. Geez. I hope the story moves soon.

the whole operation is supposed to mimic ww2's amphibious warfare with the allies (UN, including the US and all of the countries whose territories lost to the aliens) attacking the nazis (BETAs) with mostly non-existent air support but heavy naval bombardment. Basically fictional history porn.

What do you mean? Those are perfect amount of quality action imo. The talk had also been severely reduced to just basic strategy dump. They all knew what to do down to the most minute details beforehand.
If anything is missing it's the scenes of TSFs (normal ones and wadatsumi- the big mechs that stormed the beach) getting slaughtered by laser- and warrior- classes.

lol, I don't think you'd like to fight for food/land when you have the beta. There is a spinoff story for that scenario "Muvluv : The Day After" most likely the darkest series of the franchise. Alternative has lots of despair, but TDA is a whole bunch too lol
