It's less expensive than normal 2D animation, apparently.
no it's not.then why the hell aot s4 budget is so high compared to earlier season? Cgi is used to save time not budget.

Saw it without audio tho, waiting to react it later completely with subs and ost and va's etc. Just for visuals and direction, this was completely outstanding and the direction felt like I was watching a really humanised anime, if that makes sense. Background art is just awesome and lighting in characters felt so real that crybabies were spamming in chat cgi when it actually wasn't, they really put a lot of effort in the color palette and lighting and it shows.

When Chainsaw Man was in cgi it looked waaaay cleaner and better than the last leak, and while I expected it to be completely 2D I think that while the body's not that great if it was done in 2D, the helm and chainsaws look so sick and probably 2d wouldn't keep up. Also saw that for action scenes where require more movement they draw him anyways in 2d, so yeah at the end no complaints except for body closeups.

Regarding plot and direction, I felt they took more care of the scenering and places the characters are at, and adding small things like the exit door being right in front of Denji was so clever, adds so much to the scene. Overall it felt really connected through the cap because what I said, they give so much importance where is Denji at right now, transitions are smooth and feels very linear which is a part of the relaxed moments of chainsaw man manga sometimes missed, stop points were so short and timelapses made them end so fast and didn't gave enough time to actually feel relaxed. They made a really good adaptation of this first episode, which content-wise in the manga was so great but the flashbacks made them feel kinda messy, and giving it a full 25 min episode was the best option easily.

Easy 10/10, and I have high expectations that it keeps the whole season like this it will just surpass the manga in quality, the great panelling of fujimoto or directing of ryo nakamura is indeed a though choice to take but for now... I feel like the anime can surpass it

Extremely sterile first episode, hardly any creative liberties taken. There were too many panning shots and 1:1 adaptations of random manga panels. If Mappa sticks to their insistence on using jarring CG as a cost cutting strategy things will not be looking good for the rest of the series. All in all people are gonna be really let down by this.
wait what? I thought cgi was costly. That's why aot budget is so high

Yes, CGI is more costly than hand-drawn animation. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. It is used to save time.

I can't be the only one who didn't like Makima's voice right? She sound like some 15-16 year old wtf.

Her seiyuu is the current top young idol in anime industry and the biggest sponsor of this anime is Sony music.
take a guess :)

Welp, that explains a lot, fucking hell lol
I guess this sort of thing still happens even nowadays.

Nonetheless, absolutely insane first episode, This will be one hell of a season!

Absolute masterpiece. Already the anime of the decade. Haters are crying in the corner. Let them review bomb the anime, it won't change anything, they know that Chainsaw Man has already transcended Japanese animation.

The opening's pretty groovy. Apparently the ending's going to change every episode too, which is going to be pretty interesting.
Mankind knew that they cannot change society. So instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the beasts.

Well Chainsaw Man is finally here, surprised the Crunchyroll servers didn't go down.

So they really used a bunch of CGI, contrary to what some crazy fans were telling me.

It wasn't a bad first episode and I think they perfectly adapted the first chapter.

Also I really liked the visual in this episode, specially the scenery.

Love the OP, its very chainsaw man vibe, its chaotic, weird and funny (✧∀✧) Dang! so much foreshadowing, I'm so excited to see the future episodes.

Perfectly captured grim atmosphere of the manga. Cute pochita moments. ヾ(☆'∀'☆) The combined 2d and cgi action, I think it blended well because of the lighting and coloring, nice action direction, Denji running to charge to the main devil while slashing the others is smooth. (╯°Д°)╯ ┻━┻ Thankfully, the adaptation is uncensored, can't wait to see the absurb humor and high octane action on the next eps, good job mappa staffs.ヾ(^ω^*)

I already like Vaundy, they always deliver good songs, so this ed is automatic banger to me. I wonder who's the next artist in charge for next episode's ed.

Contenwise it's honestly far from my favorite start. The artistry, cinematography and audiovisual quality on the other hand are something to behold. There's gritiness to the color palette, which I would've wished to see for Jujutsu Kaisen more often and I love how greyish tones contrast with the brighter colors. Yet again Weekly Shounen Jump delivered the ideal draft for an adaptation of the hightest calibre. Their mangaka and MAPPA are a dream team and I'm already looking forward to future releases.

Boy, the opening is so fun. It's like an expression of carefreeness and adrenaline.

Ya it was great. Very dark lol. Obviously it gets more light hearted a little bit from here. Animation was awsome. Denji's voice actor nails it, being a rookie I was worried, but I shouldn't.

The elephant in the room cgi. You can tell but it looked fine to me. Maybe one scene it looked a little stuttery but I mean it was great.

AN ALMOST PERFECT EPISODE

They tell us everything the same as the manga with many more extra scenes and most importantly without censorship

the only problem here is that they used a bit of CGI but it is understandable for the projects of the MAPPA studio which was the one that animated this anime but in the same way

10/10
I'm not a critic or anything like that but I like to give my opinion

Pretty good I thought. I love the OP, and the ED is decent as well.

I think the story is cool, and will probably continue to be good as it goes on.

Visually, it looks good. It did have a lot of CGI in the fight with the Zombie Devil, which some people might not like. But I think they executed it well. It fits into the animation style pretty well I think.

NGL this is going to be one of the best anime in this decade. I have read the manga and am sure this studio turned the manga into this anime well done, even surpassed my expectation. The sound? Great! The color? Perfect! The animation style? Superb, anti-mainstream, and fresh. God bless MAPPA, really.

Fantastic first episode. The OP was brilliantly well done in terms of imagery, but IDK about the song yet... i'm gonna let it grow on me. Can't say I was super hooked by this ED, but knowing there's gonna be a new one every episode is just awesome.

The actual episode itself was damn good. Hearing Pochita talk gave me a little tear in my eye. Faffing great. Can't wait till next week.

What an awesome first episode. The animation looks incredible, reminds me a little of Dorohedoro but better. I don't know why there was so much pessimism about this before the launch, but any pessimism I had was just wiped away. Can't wait for episode 2.

Subjectivity is a joke on MAL. If you implicitly bring in subjectivity in your counter argument, you've already lost the debate. Also this website is a fankid infestation , have pity on those kids by ignoring there quotes as they have absolutely no clue what exactly is going on.
