I do really want to see it but it looks like it could be quite complicated and there’s no dub. I do struggle with complicated anime subbed? Is it easy to follow or difficult?

It is pretty complicated, convoluted, VERY dialogue heavy, but not too hard to follow the basic premises. It’s a lot like the Monogatari series, crazy abstract visuals combined with cryptic dialogue, so if you’ve seen that you can easily handle Mononoke, as it’s even more convoluted. I too struggle with these dialogue heavy shows that have no dubs, it’s just a lot of work to watch lol.

Just focus on analysing it’s themes through characters actions/dialogue and motivation and you’ll be fine. Shows like these u really have to pay attention to.

the main appeal is the visuals anyway. every story is super intricate but they all have fairly simple to understand concepts as well except for one. ill also say that i think the first arc is boring so wait for the boat untill u decide if its for you or not.

it's a short series, and what makes it stand out is it's visuals. i was pretty confused with the background knowledge needed for the second half of the anime, but it's nothing you can't piece together with some common sense. (: just try it!

Not that hard. The only thing you need to do it is "Feeling". Just use your feeling to create your own meaning you'll have different meaning from others's thing, that's why Avant-garde anime is really attractive

I think there is only one thing that was hard to follow for me, and its Form Truth Regret concept. It's been like a year or two, and I still cannot understand what they really refer to. Some sites say one thing, other say semething else. Form - what form does it take, that one I think I understand. But Truth - mononoke's origin? like a backstory? or it's current behavior? like what are its methods?... And Regret - reason for doing it all? current mental state of the mononoke? Not sure how to differentiate between them, which is which. Maybe one day someone will explain this to me in a clear and obvious way with an example.
So when watching, pay double attention to these. Otherwise, pretty chill.
