I might belong to the minorities yet I personally love the second season of SAO. The opening is mesmerizing and the story is imo way better than that whole arc with those elves.

Season 2 ended up being better than the first IMO, definitely give it a chance. I don't remember too much from it since it's been a while, but I liked it. It might have a slow start, but there's a lot of great action scenes and a pretty good storyline. I remember it being a little darker than the first season, which I personally enjoyed.

Plus a lot of people say Season 3 is the best overall (even the haters) so you'll definitely want to continue it for that.

No, for a couple reasons. 1. Yes the season is bad but you should watch it so you get the complete timeline for later seasons, they get better. 2. While not everyone agrees with this, and I'm not a big fan of doing it myself. Sometimes you gotta watch trash to appreciate the good stuff
