"what the fuck?" is the perfect way to describe a movie about a woman getting stalked and a crazy murderer woman. This movie is confusing.

Same. I was traumatized by the movie for several hours. I don’t care that it’s a commentary on social media in today’s standards. I loved the aspect of the film and cried out of being scared. Totally WTF for me as well…. It’s just a really intense movie

Yeah there are definitely some explicit scenes/images although the one scene you're probably referring to is such a visual treat with the usage of lighting, colors etc that the artistic qualities overall make it more than just simple gore (edit: The artistic quality is so prominent that it lets me focus and view the scene from a different perspective than just seeing the raw brutality of the killing in it.)

The confusing narration style goes hand in hand with the identity crisis of the mc and hence becomes more confusing the more instable the psyche of mc becomes during her transitioning process from singer to actor. Edit: Kon masterfully intertwines content and style in the way he tells the story the viewer gets a highly subjectiv view of Mimas mind.

It definitely is a confusing and intense movie that probably needs to be watched several times to fully grasp it and hopefully enjoy it too.

I actually do like old anime better than new anime, but this move just didnt hit me like sure it had a meaning and stuff. But the movie had such a "dead slow and empty" vibe it was so long and monotone.
