I did find Kushida annoying imo.
Also why is she hesitant to be friends with Horikita when deep down
Even Horikita stated it herself and she doesn’t understand why?

1. Her fake self has a status in class to be friends with everyone.

2. She wants to get close to horikita to unravel some of her insecurities and use it against her. This one won't happen now as in the LN, Horikita already knew about Kusida's dark side as they'd been to the same middle school.

She ofcourse have to act that way for deceiving all her classmates and even upper classmen. And as you may have already noticed..Horikita was one of the students who didn't chose to self introduce and all students straight up went from Opening Ceremony to their respective classes.. so How do you think Kushida knew Horikita's name in the first place. No one there was supposed to know it otherthan Ayanokoji.

Cause she wants to be recognized as something she's not. Honestly she was one of the more interesting aspects of the show and her being totally unhinged and unaffected by her actions and putting on that fake persone in an instant is what makes her actual personality scary and unpredictable.

Spoiler btw. Close to the end of the LN, kushida and horikita start to get closer together after a few major things happen, since ayanokoji ends up betraying kushida.

ur 2nd point is not exactly correct
horikta just went to same middle school as of kushida but she dont know anything about kushida , what kushida did in middle school at all
