Is it mandatory to watch White Album before watching this? I can’t tell because it doesn’t list White Album as a prequel but as “other”.

No it’s not you can just start white album 2 there’s just some references from the first one but other then that you don’t need to watch the first one

Not obligatory , but imo WA1 is better than WA2, also there are some references but you can watch whatever you want , it has no correlation.

For real? The score on WA 1 is way lower, and I haven’t watched it. I watched WA 2 not too long ago and it’s the only show I have ever given a 1. Should I try WA1?

I mean , I think I liked WA1 because of it’s more mature setting and the fact that takes a very realistic direction , the characters really feel very human and it’s mostly based on relationships. Basically the mc’s gf is a rising idol and he gets less time to see her and basically a lot of problems and drama get in the way and I think people don’t like the series because of the mc though.

no its not even worth it, it didn't know whether to be full trash harem or just a harem drama and felt awkward after the first 14 eps. WA2 is not connected besides the main song being white album and is much better

it's not mandatory only thing is that some of the songs from wa2 are from wa1, I would say wa1 is better because it feels more mature I liked that but they both really good

Not necessary in the slightest. WA2 has a few songs from WA1 and like 2 unimportant references.
Some will enjoy WA1 more for its maturity, but the majority will probably find it boring and hard to get through (I did). WA2 on the other hand is among my top anime
