I've already seen the original and wondering if I should see the sequels

I am well aware that the sequels are hated by most fans, but I like to watch everything that a franchise has to offer. However, if the sequels were written in a way where people who haven't seen the original can understand it, then I won't watch it. I will only watch it if there are things in the sequels that only people who saw the original can understand. Basically what I am asking is whether the original FLCL and sequels should be considered stand alone and prove to me how.

Everyone’s allowed to have an opinion, my and a few other peoples opinion seems to be that forcing your opinion into a question not related to quality of the original work is kinda annoying

It was relevant to the topic. And regardless people do that on every thread, this thread/anime is not exempt from it. I think people are freely able to express things they do or do not like. Just sounds like people getting offended.
