after watching the 1997 adaption , I thought to start it but saw people saying that the animation is really bad , So should I watch it? or Read the manga instead?

Definitely read the Manga , he's miles better than all of his adaptations.

The 2016/17 Animes are full CGI , and it's one of the worst ever made. It also skipped some minor Arcs.
Actually , even the 97 Anime is far from a good adaptation , it got average animation and changed some parts of the story , but it's still acceptable.

The manga is objectively undoubtedly unquestionably better. Just seeing 2 minutes of the anime can give anyone nausea

Read it and watch the movies after if you want. Reading it's more important. And the movies are a fun adaptation of some of the story

100% read the manga instead. Maybe watch the anime after with some friends and make fun of it, then reread the manga so that your most recent memories of berserk aren’t terrible.

its actually pretty good
it gets carried by the story
and tbh the animation isn't that bad the cgi is a bit bad at times but u get used to it

first you would be like animation can't be as bad as people say and if it's that bad I'm still gonna watch it but that's only a though.but after watching first episode all of your thoughts will disappear and with all remaining life you will regret even watching even one episode. so don't you dare watch it will ruin your life just read manga it's absolute masterpiece.if you take one page paint with oil and put it in a frame then you can easily hang in museum

The sound design is horrible sword fights sounds like a fight happening in kitchen nightmares. The characters designs and models look horrible little to no emotion is on their face and characters that aren't important all look the exact same and move like robots. They skip a lot of shit which makes the main protagonist seem just kinda like a dickhead who likes killing shit. It's a horrible adaptation of arguably one of the best mangas to come out

I love Berserk, so it's worth it for me. The VAs, OST, and story are all great. You'll find that, unfortunately, most people on here solely value an anime based on 1:1 adaptation or even as basic as avoidance of CGI.

My suggestion: give it a couple episodes, see if you vibe with it.

Alot of people don't like the anime but I found the cgi to be very brutal and raw and very much so in theme with the show. You cannot go wrong just reading the manga, but I think the anime is worth checking out and if it's not for you then just stop.

Berserk is the top manga of all time on MAL for a reason, so read the manga for sure. 1997 skipped some stuff, and had garbage animation but was fairly loyal to the source material. The movies while somewhat pretty, skipped a lot of plot points and even mashed some of them up together. I'm hesitant to even mention the 2016/17 animes because they're quite literally a shitstain on Miura's legacy. So just read the manga.
