| About 3/4 through the original MSG, people keep saying "the movies do this better" and such so are these movies a remake? Is this like, reanimated or is this just the 79 anime cut down to be less time? Or is Gundam: the origins a remake of the original anime? |

| The 0079 movie trilogy is a mixture of footage from the show and newly-animated higher-quality footage made specifically for the movies. Each film contains more new footage than the previous one, with the third movie being mostly new. Regarding which one you should watch as a newcomer to the franchise, the movies are 100% the best option, and are superior to the TV show in general. The movies retain all of the central plot plus all of the most memorable side-stories from the show, while cutting out basically everything that feels like it belongs in a Saturday morning cartoon. In addition to this, the movies also contain additional information about important aspects of the story (eg. newtypes) which is entirely missing from the show, meaning that they actually do a better job of telling the story than the show does. Combine this with the new animation and music making the story feel much more dramatic, and the movies are simply superior. |
