As some of you may know, Haruhi has two main watch orders: the original TV broadcast order and the chronological order. Most websites I know of use the chronological order. (Funimation follows the chronological order for example.)
I'll drop a link showing the two orders here, but I'll summarize it here.
The original order starts with The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00 and ends with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Six. It jumps a lot in the timeline, but it makes enough sense.
The chronological order starts with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part One and ends with Endless Eight III. This order was broadcasted when season 2 came out.
I've watched it in chronological order because I didn't know the original order existed until the Endless Eight, so I was too late at that point. However, I believe that the vast majority of people don't know about the original order, and that's hurting many people's enjoyment. So many people complain about Someday in the Rain and how it's a horrible finale for season 2 without knowing that it was originally from season 1. Frankly, I think it's a dumb decision to change it from the original order, and if Funimation and other websites went back to the original order, I believe the MAL score would be much higher.

I watched it chronologically because I did not want to watch 1/3 a story, put it on hold, watch 1/6 a story, and then put it on hold again.

This is easily resolved with "some other order," which I recommend.
But let's be real here, nobody these days complains about "Someday in the Rain." Everyone treats the movie as the finale instead.

I often wonder if I would have enjoyed the show more if I’d watched it in the airing order. The chronological order is rough when you’re trying to get through the endless 8. And I wonder if I might have liked the characters more if I’d seen their actions presented in the order the creators intended. But I’ll never know for sure.

Chronological. This series got worse with age for me and I'm bummed that it's lost most of its appeal now.

Chronological since that was just the way the place I watched it had it formatted

People who watch this in chronological order first are missing out big time. The emotional payoff is nowhere near the same. Reminds me that Kyoani finished this with Disappearance might be the right choice since Surprise added more unresolved plot, even the author doesn't know how to end the story conclusively.

It's strange that the original broadcast order is winning because none of the replies say they watched it in the original order.

I happened to watch it in the original order and got a bit confused. Felt like something was off, and some things didn't make any sense to me. I was just a teenager, though. Read about the different watch orders afterwards or while I was watching it, and kinda understood where it was going. Later I watched it in the chronological order, which I prefer. But the original order was quite interesting, as well. I wouldn't recommend anyone watching the original order if you're not going to rewatch it in chronological order afterwards. Just talking about the first season, though. Optimal, in my opinion, would be watching season 1 and 2 together in chronological order, then the movie.
