The anime was quite old, so the animation and and the pacing were kinda bad.
I didn't read the adapted part of the manga, so I can't tell if it's good or not. But I'd recommend reading the manga instead of watching the anime.

The main problems w the anime are age or production quality but it is still a very strong anime. Feel free to watch it to the end of the last main game and then pick up the manga to finish off the story. It’s how I got in

Bro read the manga, I haven’t read it myself but after finishing the anime recently I don’t even want to read it with how much the pacing pissed me off. However, the praise the manga gets must be for a reason so I highly recommend you to start with that

Both are great, of course the anime is a little bit outdated but it’s still great. Personally I believe the pacing in the manga is a lot better but I don’t recommend one over the other.

If you are anime only then watch the anime. It still holds up very well, the comedy is still on point and is most definitely not outdated.

The ending for the anime is completely different from the ending in the manga. My siblings and I watched the anime first and then read the manga from beginning to end. The anime definitely makes the scenes more hilarious, but the manga concludes the story better. I personally recommend going through both, if you have enough time.

I have heard that the anime is not good as the manga so read the manga instead of wasting your time on anime.
