Does this get better in S2?

Spice & Wolf is a relatively good anime, however, I can't decide whether or not to continue. While I think the show has it's moments, majority of the episodes in S1 didn't grasp my attention. I'm also having a hard time understanding how the economy works.

For the most part if you didn't enjoy the first part that much I don't think the second part will be better for you. Personally I think the second season is better but it still has a lot of the economic ideas. It does however focus more on the romance so if that's your thing might be worth a shot.

The second season has a bullshit ending. It just ends and that’s it. And another thing that gets on my nerves in season 2 is the dated trading practices in some of it. Like you find out that Lawrence agrees with the slave trade in one of their conversations. And in the season, Lawrence sells Holo TWICE, so he really sometimes sees Holo as a means to save his own ass.
I love the show, but even I can admit that it has flaws.
If a season 3 was announced I would still jump on it in a heartbeat, but yeah, there are negative aspects of this otherwise wholesome show. It’s a case of if you aren’t convinced the first season, you won’t be sold in the second. Despite my complaints I mentioned, I know that this show is based in a time way earlier in history before we had all these laws we have now. Like I said at the start, dated trading practices.

Maybe its not for you but the 2nd season will continue with the economy so maybe you could not watch it?

I liked the plot of spice and wolf but eventually found it boring as well. I recommending putting it on hold and coming back to it later when you want to be cheered up as season 2 is both dramatic and wholesome.

It stays relatively the same but the sakes go higher when doing business in season 2. The mcs also co get more development and their bond strengthens even further. I liked season 2 better btw

Its very similar in quality. A show about medieval economics isnt gonna be for everyone.

He died doing what he wanted, no matter what, right? I bet he was happy.

I personally prefer S1 over S2, though they both are good imo. If it’s not worth it to you then no shame in only watching the 1st season. Why watch more if you’re not enjoying it when you can look for something else you might like instead?

Both seasons of Spice & Wolf are amazing.
The Story is really good and the characters are just great.
It was one of those Animes that got me really into fantasy and this old stuff.
But that is really subjective some people may not like this anime.
