i started watching this series and i’m really enjoying it so far, but i just found out there’s a broadcast order that should be followed. should i keep watching it normally or switch to the broadcast order? and will it really affect my enjoyment of the series or is it good either way?

I read the light novel so I wouldn't know (why did I post here then?).
I have seen the first season so I know that the arrangement of episodes isn't exactly a linear path but I don't think this matters very much. You can still make sense of the events. If you're already enjoying it, no need to switch up your watching style. Just go with it

Don’t think so, the enjoyment is there regardless

I think the broadcast order is better for a rewatch. Just stick to chronological order for your first time.

thank you to everyone who replied :) maybe i’ll try the broadcast order my second time around but yeah if it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference i’ll stick with chronological.

I would honestly consider still making the switch. The big advantage broadcast has over chronological is that the first 6 chronological episodes are very plot driven and have a big climax, and broadcast order fills in some side stories and more self contained episodes to make the payoff even bigger once you finish that sixth episode of the arc.

Either way, it’s not a huge deal; a big joke with this show is that basically any random order of episodes has a valid case for being the best order, and most people end up watching them in some jumbled order their first time bc of how confusing it all is.

Don’t watch broadcast order. Worst mistake of my life.

I personally felt that the broadcast order kind of took away from any character development and, for me personally, felt like doing so threw away what good was done. Kinda disappointing for me, your choice how to watch and make your own opinion of tho!

Definitely the chronological order is better for a first timer imo. Rewatch the broadcast order for a different experience

Broadcast order S01 followed by chronological S01+S02 is the definitive viewing experience and I strongly recommend it for first time viewers.

Idk about a single most accurate watch order, but if you want to try all of them in the shortest possible way, here’s a good place to start 😉: https://mathsci.fandom.com/wiki/The_Haruhi_Problem

as you already were 4 episodes into it the time, I think it was the right choice to continue chronologically, regardless, hope you enjoy the series!

I definitely prefer the chronological order and wouldn't have even come close to enjoying the series to the same degree had I viewed it the other way around. But I know my own tastes and proclivities, as must everyone.

I prefer chronological order for any series in general, but for a character-focused Slice of Life show with the type of plot and character relationships it has, it's a dealbreaker for me.

I'm currently watching for the very first time in broadcast order, and having a blast. It feels like it's supposed to be watched this way with the way that it's been paced so far. Like for instance, the way certain pieces of information have been revealed so far, it seems like it would feel weird having that info be revealed so much later if it were chronological.
I don't know if my post makes any sense, but so far I recommend broadcast order. That said though, watch it however you want, whoever may be reading. Don't let your dreams be dreams.
