do i need to watch/read anything else before starting this show? im interested after joey mentioned it

i dont think u need to read anything. just like me. i did enjoyed the anime first then read the after story on manga...

or maybe u want to read some William Shakespeare's plays. because this show have a lot of Shakespeare's references - Hamlet and The Tempest i think

honestly this anime made me more interested in Shakespeare’s works and I think that’s funny. Just like how bungou stray dogs made me more interested in classical literature.

You don't have to read anything to get the story. They basically explain why they refernece two of Shakespeare's works throughout the series. The two stories they reference are Hamlet and the tempest.
