I personally would say one outs and akagi are super similar but kaiji isn't as similar to those because there is a very important difference. Both one outs and akagi have a badass super genius MC. But as for kaiji, the mc is a genius yeah but he is kind of a wimp most of the time and he takes alot of time to come up with a solution, sometimes even loses and then bounces back. But the gambling part is same in akagi, kaiji and one outs. Kaiji has more complex games when it comes to gambling but only reason I enjoy watching akagi and one outs more than kaiji is because of the MC even tho I'm not familiar with mahjong or baseball. |
| I struggle to recommend Akagi mainly because the show never really slows down to fully explain Mahjong so it’s easy to get a bit lost in the show. The anime is better in this regard then the manga but it’s still easy to not fully understand the stakes. If you don’t mind doing a bit of light reading on mahjong before you start Akagi it will be much more enjoyable for you! |
