only the ending is sad, but not THAT sad. Don't know why people call it the saddest anime of all time. They should watch Clannad or Little Busters, they're also by Key. And better imo.

This show is the definition of being hilariously funny and sad at the same time. So yeah I'd definitely say that it is sometimes sad, but the comedy makes up for that. It's a great anime, definitely watch it!

The ending is said to be sad but it was so sudden and unexpected that I legit laughed instead of feeling sad.
If Ufotable makes an anime remake of the Fate route and Tsukihime I can say that I lived a full life.

Tbh,the whole story wasn't that sad,the way each character died was quite tragic but overall not that sad,the ending was pretty touching,but not as sad as Clannad

There are lots of moments that are super heartwarming and hilarious. There are also a number of scenes that are rather sad. It’s hard to explain without going into spoilers but the sad scenes are rather bittersweet as there are still elements of happiness imbedded in them.

It depends on the person, personally, i found the series neither sad nor hilarious as some people in the comments say. It was ok for me, watch for visuals and music.

If it hits you, it hits you hard. I’ve seen people, like me, who were left devestaed by the ending, and others who have had “meh” reactions. Either way, the show is Jun Maeda stronger works.

The Anime is supposed to be a tragedy, and a comedy at the same time.
Yes, the ending was kind of sad, but because of a certain plot hole, it just didn't feel right.
Not to me at least.

Regardless, it is sad, but not the saddest as people may say

Can hardly find anything in the anime sad, and when there's a scene that starts leading to sum sad shitty back story, it usually ends in a few mins and goes back to the comedy anime it is

I cry every time I rewatch it, because it's about topics that hit close to home, especially third episode - it is sad, but I would say in a very cathartic and inspiring way. It's a good sad.

Well tbh I easily cry to anime but the ones that are known to make you cry I didn’t cry to, anohana, this, etc. but still I could see why people would find this very sad
