I’d recommend watching the first season in full, then the 2009 season second, then The Disappearance movie last. If you don’t want to watch all of endless eight, watch the first two and the last episode of the arc.

What you can do is look at the episode list and their set up, I think. If not just google in chronological order thats the order that works best.

Chronological order should be the best.

The 2006 season has all the episodes scrambled, the 2009 season (when I watched it had 26 episodes) is in order. There is an episode that if I'm not mistaken is called 6 infinity (I can be very wrong) that repeats the same episode 6 times, however, with small changes from one to the other. Hope this helps.

You mean endless 8... Cause the symbol for infinite is a sideways 8.... They thought they were so clever lol😂

Personnally I watch it in this order and I think it is the best to understand well :

S1 ep 2-8
S2 ep 1
S1 ep 9-11
S2 ep 2-9 (same episode in repeat with little change)
S2 ep 10-14
S1 ep 1
S1 ep 12-14
Movie
Spin-off (if you want)

Watch 2006, then 2009, then the movie (just watched it last week). While it’s not chronological compared to the light novels, they made the episodes in that order for a reason. If you watch them in chronological order the characters will literally know information they can’t possibly know, the chronological order of the show is different it’s its own contained thing.

You can choose between:

I watched the chronological order and liked it and apparently the broadcast order makes the series even better.

Which viewing order is closer to the novels?

None, the novels are also out of order. For example, The Disappearance is in volume 4 but there are some chapters on volume 5 and 6 with some events that go before it. The anime adapted everything that happens before The Disappearance, including those chapters. Watching it in chronological order prepares you better for the movie, but the broadcast order can be way more enjoyable, so you can choose whatever you want.

I've heard that watching the original broadcast order makes season 1 more enjoyable as a standalone, but now that season and the movie are out, the entire thing viewed as a whole makes more sense to watch chronologically.

Since I plan on watching both seasons and the movie, and tend to get annoyed by shows and movies that jump around, it would make more sense to watch chronological order, right?

Yeah, the chronological order should be fine, that's how I watched it and it was cool.
