Tenma looks so badass now xD
Glad the girl is happy (not sure if that made much sense) again. But she still looks kind of weird to me =P

Hmm so Tenma is priming himself to search for Johan and maybe Nina/Anna. That was nice at the end when the war vet and the girl walked away holding hands

This is a wonderful show!! I can't wait to see where it goes from here!! Tenma is an amazing man, he touches everyone he meets. It's awesome how adept he got with the training so quickly, but it should be obvious, seeing as he was a world class surgeon. It, just shows how good he is with his hands. Though, it was kind of cliche, I really liked this little story about the Merc and his daughter. The investigator is great, he is portrayed perfectly as the gritty, what-ever-it-takes detective. And, for all the people who have seen this show subbed w/japanese dialouge, you should really check this show out dubbed!! This is a fantastic dub, one of the best I've seen. I watched like half the series subbed a while back and really liked it, but watching it dubbed is even better. A wonderful "star-studded" cast makes this show perfect!! Can't wait for more!! Urahara Out!!

Yeah, really great episode in a series of great episodes. But, I felt some ambiguity in the scene with the chick. It was interesting how he was saving a life, while he is actually training to possibly end a life. And, well, the scene with the girl laughing and later holding hands with the soldier was touching.

It makes sense but it is hard to explain, but I will try. That girl seems to be a smart and when she and the doctor returned a small bird in her nest, she realized that would have a very hard life without that old soldier so she began to appreciate him

Yeah, definitely a beautifully done episode. I love how understated this was, making it even more touching when the girl smiled at the end. Loving this series all over again.

Emotional episode :)

About Episode:

Good thing that old man didn't sell Tenma to Rungus and wouldn't say anything about him this will keep detective busy sometime. I think Rungus understand that too that he is not going to talk about Tenma. Because he was Tenma's teacher.

So 5 moths later Tenma begins his training with guns and also some running and jumping with rope that was best part. Also that part where they were eating nikujakuja that Japanese food. Haha old man couldn't get to his chopsticks working okay I have to say it's hard. I cannot use them at all too so I don't blame him.

Talking about only 5 months and Tenma became this good with weapons and he was also really fast with like maybe 3 seconds. That's awesome man hopefully he can defeat Johan. Tenma is now ready to face Johan.

Nice to see in the end even though that man hurt that girl's mother she forgave him that and also after Tenma had paid for his training she started laughing first time that was really emotional and great moment. Now let's see where Tenma is going to next. I hope he can soon meet Johan though. Now he don't fear him anymore his ready for everything.

Peaceful and nice episode 5/5

I haven't commented at all so far about this show, but this episode deserved one. A couple tears rolled down my eyes near the end when the girl started laughing and when they were in the rain. It appears that the young girl forgave him and she can start to live a happy life, this also applies to the teacher since he felt obligated to take care of her no matter what she thought of him.

Tenma seems to touch everyone's lives everywhere he goes. I hope he takes down Johan so that Tenma can finally get some rest, but it might end up being more complicated than that considering how long this series is.

I'm pretty excited for the future episodes and I will start to comment more. It might be a little late, but I cried when Mauler died. He was such a good guy and Tenma gave him hope for reuniting with his family and giving up the smokes. Then, he up and dies. I did not see that coming.

Tenma may have left his job but he’s still the same gentle and kindhearted person he was. His actions directly and indirectly bring his teacher and that young girl together. Tenma is just looking to correct his “mistake” in all this. He hasn’t thrown all his ideals away.

His look of determination while shooting the gun however, does mean that he's at least taking the training seriously. The most important question from this episode that the detective asks is "Which path will he choose" in regards to whether he can kill his first person.
-Nothing can stay unchanged. Even so, can you still keep on loving this place?

This episode is a little masterpiece. Even not as episode of "Monster", but as seperately short film. Incredible.

I see it not like minor episode of "Monster", not a story of Tenma, but a story of that serious veteran of war man and that little girl... they are real main characters of this short movie.
Every frame was brilliant. And in every it has sence. From the beginning: this girl who jump in the puddle again and again... To the masterpiece ending, where this experienced and worldly-wise man is crying in the rain after girl stretch her hand to him...

P.S. I really wish there were more of such serious, realistic and grand works our there. Because, indeed, this episode is far better and stronger than majority of whole anime... I will keep this to myself as a short movie. Powerful and brilliant work. And here I somehow see allusion on Isao Takahata...

I'm not one to get moved easily so this episode felt incredibly cheesy. The animation was a bit lazy at times but glad to see Tenma is actually stepping up but I doubt it would be easy for a man who saves people's lives for a living to be taking them instead. And the truck driver should have recognised Tenma from the papers.

so they showed on what Tenma has been doing this past 5 months :P

man the training is really harsh, though surprise the little girl has managed to master it at such a young age.

to be honest the little girl's face has a similar expression to Eva(must be how the girls are drawn by the artist ^^)

and wow the commander had to kill the little girl's mother. it's life and death in the battlefield basically :(

lol when Tenma cooked and was making fun of the commander not being able to use the chop stick, he look mad as hell XD

i too have a problem with chop sticks, but i'm slowly reworking on it!!

Tenma has managed to master on how to assemble a gun and disassemble, makes sense since he is a surgeon after all :P

i love how Tenma teaches the little girl the importance of life and how you can't just go getting the little bird out of the parents like that.

and she finally smiled!!!

it's definitely lonely if both you and the girl not having any some sort of communication in the middle of the woods.

the commander just wanted the little girl's smile after all the battle's he's been through ;)

really heart warming moment, even the music is tearful as ever!!

and yes we definitely need more anime's like this!!!

looks like Tenma is ready for combat now! i wonder how will he first shoot his first gun? :)

amazing stuff!!! want more of this!!

Excellent self-contained episode. The dynamic between the girl and soldier was cool, considering these are likely one time appearances.

Now we have a basis for Tenma being in shape and able to use a gun. I do wonder if the gun is for self-defense or for Johan, though. I'll withhold my thoughts there until we know more.
