I don't not like it, it's been a solid 7/8 out of 10 season as a whole, but this cour has dragged at times.

WhiteFox have been given 30 minutes per episode to adapt the source material, and instead of making the dialogue punchy and impactful, it meanders and the character exchanges are repetitive and mundane. Conversations that should take 30 seconds end up taking far longer, and to the point where I just want to hit the fast forward button on the app.

Otherwise, it's a very good show. Pandora's an interesting villain, and it's nice that we're actually exploring Emilia's character more, because up until this cour,
she was very one-dimensional.

I don't really like the kingdom setting in general, so I really disliked those waifus in the first place. I also don't like the protagonist. Like his ability is to revive himself and to do that he just kills himself, like it just feels so pathetic.

I do remember disliking it the first time I watched it because of Subaru's way. Now, I'm just sharing what was my experience at that time, my opinion changed a lot since then. He repeated a lot of mistakes and that made him look like a dumbass. He seemed mindless in his thought process. At least, he was clearly chasing Emilia, but he was pretty stupid about it. I get that he loves Emilia but man, he loved to put himself in danger in every way possible in a world he knew nothing about. His actions were offputting in a fantasy setting and frustrating in the romance genre. Without any background, he wasn't that likeable of a main character, Emilia had every right to push him away multiple times. He was awkward and cringy. He was caring but still trying too hard to make an impression on someone. By Betelgeuse arc, he was a better version of himself. I couldn't dislike him but couldn't like him either.

The same thing happened with the sisters. I found them boring as hell. Maybe not that much for Ram since she was hanging with Roswaal and it was intriguing. I couldn't find Rem interesting for the life of me. She was nice to have in a battle that's it. Her speech with him made sense, but I didn't care.

The story kept me watching. That,s why I like it now. I rewatched it twice and don't feel that way about the characters. Well, Rem is still not that interesting to me. Maybe we will get more of her in the future.

Re-re-read my statement. Your reply is a logical fail. I would know because I scored a 174 on the LSAT which got me into Northwestern Law after graduating with top honors from US Berkeley. BTW...the LSAT is an exam in logic.

honestly, one reason: rem

it started off as a good romance story, wouldve been something fresh in the garbage isekai genre, but they had to force in this garbage trash annoying character and make a love triangle at least...

even if we take rem out its an ok story, nothing amazing, but with rem being the obnoxious insufferable bitch she is, there is no way I like or keep watching this shitshow

thats why I hate rezero and dropped it, hope that answers your question

Characters and world aren't nearly as interesting as the story tries to make them seem. So much talking and back on back flashbacks for mundane things.

Basically, it fails to make me care about what it's telling and showing me. It wastes my time.

The gratuitous violence and rem torture I never enjoyed but the characterization of Subaru is why I kept watching. if a show has you feel physical pain over the actions of its characters it's doing something right.

The main problem is that Subaru never grows out of being an awkward self-hating manipulative "nice guy" stereotype, despite numerous other characters acting as if he progresses. That dissonance is plot breaking, and really goes far to illustrate the intent of the author writing around a harem and failing to disguise it, where Subaru is the typical Captain Save-A-Ho.

I'm not going to lie, the world, the setting, is very interesting. But the narrative is trash. I'm sure I would have enjoyed another story in that world that didn't involve Subaru, Rem, Emilia, Beatrice, the Witches, whom all want to exchange bodily fluids with Subaru.

I couldn't help but feel like Subaru isn't really suffering throughout the show, that it's just him pretending to be a drama queen. Put it this way: If each death is an unimaginable pain, then after 3-4 of them, a person would think to maximize his gains from each iteration. That means to gather as much information as possible and figure out ways to solve the mystery. But after hundreds of deaths, Subaru still goes about things in the dumbest ways possible, still gets a boner after Emilia -- it's just... unbelievable. It's almost as if he has a death fetish.

For my personal enjoyment or lack thereof, let's just say S1 still functions as a thriller on first watch, and for that I did enjoy it (first watch).

However, once the novelty of watching someone play a virtual reality dating sim with a lot of brutality mixed in wears off, the show becomes clear for what it is. It is the story of a kid with no notability of ability and no nobility of mind fumbling about a fantasy land chasing skirts with no idea WTF he is doing. The stupidity of the kid in question is painful to watch. None of the support or side characters are portrayed in the anime in a (mentally) realistic manner either, making everybody incredibly unrelated. Never mind that intelligent minds require novelty to be entertained and the show's inherent repetitiveness due to its main mechanic seriously screws this aspect up.

For more details about the less subjective complaints I've had, I've written my thoughts down in my reviews for S1 and S2.

S1 is decent and well paced, but honestly S2 was extremely boring with zero subtlety, but just endless, poorly directed expositions (it's like the studio has forgotten what "show, don't tell" is; at that point you're reading a novel instead of watching a show), which is not necessarily a flaw in itself, but the dialogue is just so poorly written that I can't possibly like it.

Having only seen season one, I absolutely loved so much about the show. Having the focus be on a main character who is very clearly meant to be a terrible person is always fun, and the focus on his depression and suffering was legitimately fantastic. What I didn't like was the romance elements. I get that every fantasy isekai has to have some sort of romance shoehorned in, but it just. It truly didn't feel like it had to be there.

I like it, but I think it could have improved. Rem's confession seemed so long and excessive to me that it only broke my dive in the end. Another thing that I think is missing is a particular event that is not related to a tragedy to give more logic to the story.

Too shonenesque for my taste. I watched the first season and I remember skipping many dialogue scenes between the characters because they didn't have any weight to them
"Chimp in state of nature never jerks off, but in captivity he does, wat does this mean? In state of nature he’s too busy, to put plainly. He is concerned with mastering space: solving problem of life in and under trees, mastering what tools he can, mastering social relations in the jockeying for power and status. Deprived of this drive to development and self-increase he devolves to pointless masturbation, in captivity, where he senses he is in owned space and therefore the futility of all his efforts and all his actions."

S2 wasn't very compelling to move as a main story but focusing on characters development. But feels like a drag in most of the dialogue. It lost some of the mysterious suspense build up from S1. Interaction with some of the supporting charas also feels like a bad acting, forceful. Overall feel strange half the time and dragging until the last couple episode got the main event going again.

- Subaru is an Immortal God, so nothing that happens matters, since he can just fix it no matter how well prepared the opposition is.
- No more Rem
-Subaru is an OMEGA pathetic cringelord
- Despite the fact that the people in the series do not know that Subaru is an Immortal God, they sure act like they know. Nobody seems to value their own lives, and despite the fact that from their POV, Subaru is an extra capable man, they still act like he is not, despite the fact that by all means he should be seen as a hero by everyone. So everything feels artificial when it comes to how the characters act. No character development.
- The Motivations of the characters are shit. Subaru fell in love with Emilia at first sight and takes it to very retarded extends, despite the fact that after all that death he should have changed his mind to at least some extends . Emilia wants to be the King, despite the fact that she has no qualifications in any way shape or form for that. So i downright hate their motivations, and coupled with the fact that they cannot fail no matter how much they actively try to shoot themselves in the foot ....yeah that gets on my nerves.

I guess those are the major ones that i can think of right now.

Subaru is no immortal god, his mind can break. Without everybody there to cheer up he can basically go crazy and turn into the dark-side, looking at Kanedgy and eren. Without Rem in season 1 or Otto in season 2, Re:Zero will be different.

The development in season 2 is about Subaru value his own life and stop using RbD for good and relies to his own teammates. Relies on RbD too much is a double edged sword, it takes away your sanity.

The characters can rage and cry, wow, what a shit characters. Maybe these days people prefer one dimension character that have no own will and moving linearly within the plot.

Learn the story before throw away a criticism bro.

My comment on last episode thread(season 2, part 2, episode 7, page 3) isn't all I had to say, but we will leave at that, since I promised I wouldn't be bothering the fanbois and stop creating expectations about this show, just turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

Actually one last thing that I've noticed and forgot to say there, all the people that really like and defend the show have read the LN, they aren't objective when it comes from an Anime only view, so yeah the LN may be 10/10 but the anime, specially this season not so much and since most of you like to praise yourself by your own (self insert) intellect, I bet that if you didn't had the LN knowledge you wouldn't be giving this a perfect score.

I do feel like whenever threads like this are made they just attract the attention of haters of a series even if the original poster didn't intend do so. On the other hand it can also be a great place for a good debate among people with a lot of different opinions.

As someone who started the Light Novel before season 1 aired, I think that the series more than lived up to the hype and that the second season was so much better than I thought it would be.

I watched halfway thru season 1, and while the whole premise "die in pain, ressurect infinitely and change the future" is kinda cool, the execution is lackluster at best.
The characters are boring with no depth, the mc is basically Kirito v2.0, there is direction to the plot, the music is forgettable, the animation is basic.

I mean, does it get any better or what?
