I think its cuz first season released long ago that most of the viewership won't even care if there is a dub.
Making a dub costs quite a bit of money and to license a dub it costs at least 10k, so making a dub most likely result in a loss.

Dubbing the second season and not going back to dub the first seems like a bigger a waste of money. The dub audience isn't going to start in the second season and probably won't be watching the sub while the sub audience won't watch the dub.

Yes, of course there's some degree of crossover but you said yourself "most of the viewership won't even care if there is a dub" which I agree with. So why bother dubbing the second season at all? My guess is they were planning too and then the pandemic caused delays and difficulties so they didn't. Or could be split licensing issues. Whatever the reason, still seems like no dub would have been the best option.

Yeah true, I think the dub is for dub purist who also happens to see the first season in sub. I have a friend who exclusively watches dub anime but if there is any good show which isn't dubbed then he would watch it too, he ended up watching The Irregular at Magic High School S2 in dub, I thought people like that are rare but the S2 dub did end up getting quite popular. Wanting to re-watch the same show in dubbed is also another factor (that is if they do release S1 dub)

It is hilarious.

Why would people who watch dubs watch second season dub only? Makes no sense. People who are willing to sit through Japanese and subtitles will watch it that way anyway, kinda seems moronic to just dub season 2 then.

Feels like a waste of money at that point. So it isn't about money, at all.
