Pretty good stuff. It's only 4 episodes in! I'm excited as to what will be revealed in the remaining 70.

Tenma looks rather traumatized, sucks that the suspicion is cast back on him. The police don't seem to believe his story very much, and who would blame them?

It was too obvious that it was Johann, but I'm very excited to watch the rest. >:D

Well it was pretty obvious that the twins both had a loose screw, but damn a kid must be pretty fucking sinister to get his hands on poison and murder 3 people o_o... Now the question is who shot Johaan and his parents (if they are even their real parents). Or did he shoot himself after killing his parents? >___________________>

I totally expected the killer to be Johann. And like some of you, I'm confused about the whole candy thing too.

Same. I mean, how in the world did he put them in there, and knew they were gonna eat it in the first placd o-o. Not to mention he had a bullet wound -.-

Maybe someone was already trying to kill him, and he knew it? It seems unlikely that he'd be able to contact someone on the outside to get him the candy for this specific purpose in such a short time. Who knows, though. It's all incredibly interesting. This has been the best start to a series I've seen. 4/74 episodes down, and so much has happened already.

I like that the detective is a main character because I've always enjoyed series with the police/detective jazz. It's one of my favourite genres after watching Ghost in the Shell: SAC.

The English voice actor for Johan is creepy as f**k. Fits him well.

Oh I was right Johan did it. Well I wouldn't be this surprised if I had read the summary but for mystery and thriller shows, it's best not to else get spoiled :)

I've already been over the whole "wishing someone were dead" stuff and how it's wrong. Still, for it to actually happen must be disturbing to Tenma, especially since that's the whole reason he ended up being able to become the Chief Surgeon. He might be questioning if he's any better than the former Director right about now.

As for the actual act of saving Johan, he didn't do anything wrong. Johan bears his own guilt for his actions.

I do hope the poisoned candy is explained. It seems to be a bit of a stretch for a kid to pull that off.

That was a powerful episode.

That was really intense...

Watching Johan murder Junkers was brutal

Tenma's gonna be traumatized by that ordeal for awhile.

I saw it coming from a mile away but it was still really epic.

Finally my fears has been laid to rest regarding Johan, i was told he was the antagonist before i started and was afraid it wouldn't be revealed in the story till the 60th ep or something, so i'm relieved. I do have to agree that his Voice isn't what i expected, but his character will define things for me as things move forward.

Poor Junkers. His scene with Tenma in the park was really nice and gave a lot for a character that was never meant to last.
The scene with Johan and Tenma was chilling. Okay, leaving aside that Johan was only a kid when he poisoned 3 men and that seems contrived.

"Doctor, you are like a father to me"
Tenma's mental breakdown, leading to how we see him in the opening, starts when he realizes what he created.

Johans voice actually fits his character perfectly, outward appearence of a shy young man (good looks also) and than this child like voice; creepy voice for a creepy, scary, intelligent psychopath!

And also, happy wishes to Tenma for getting such a lovely son!

The Tension of this anime is in general very, very good! In my opinion is this anime a masterpiece!

Johan's an appealing character.
So is Tenma, but it kinda seems these events are too much for him to handle, I see him as a really nice guy who would not bear too many bad things to happen to him.

Hmm.. Something about this episode and the way the twist was done wasn't all that believable. I mean, I can buy that Johan has become a killer after 9 years, but WHY did he use poisoned candy 9 years ago? HOW did he know that they would eat it? lol. Seems like a very illogical and undependable way to kill someone. Where did he get the poison anyway? I mean, he was a kid in a hospital bed for cryin' out loud. With a bullet wound in his head.

Oh well, I'll continue watching the show.

LOL! Are you blem bro!??! All those presents the kid got in the hospital. One of the packages was a bunch of candy and all 3 of them ate it. Or did you forget so soon? Of course its 100% plausible that they would eat his poisoned candy. The only part that doesn't make sense is how he got that candy and how/why did the director eat it at home.

What a dark and twisted episode! Too bad poor Adolf never got his clock, but that scene outside was touching nonetheless. Tenma's breakdown towards the end really made me feel for the character, the dude must be going through all sorts of thoughts and emotions. Definitely the most climactic episode yet, now onwards!

I agree that too many things just don't add up. How did he even get the poisoned candy delivered to his own room. I suppose he knew what to poison it with. Then that guard eats some all those years later.

Seems like it has to be miss direction. If it's not, I'm probably going to be disappointed. Guess that's why I couldn't rate this a 5 like the majority of votes.

To me it was pretty obvious that the kid was the killer, the plot thicken and that is weird because there is 74 episode, i mean to me from what has been shown so far you can easily conclude this story with 12 episode, i really wonder what will happen to make this a 74 episode series^^

man that must have been crushing to Tenma. he based his beliefs on the day he saved that boy, and he ended up being a manipulative killer. probably makes him question whether all lives are worth saving

Huh. This actually has some really heavy Frankenstein vibes. Now it just so happens that Frankenstein is my favorite book; I can't help but see the parallels.
It's seriously like a modern Frankenstein.
I don't know if it's good that I'm comparing it.

Yeah baby.

Monster-kun returns and his name was Johan Liebert. I forgot his name to be frank. Poor Junkers. I liked the BGM in this episode when we see Johan Liebert(no longer to be named monster-kun).

Skip to 4:15. Best scene. When Tenma realizes, the raindrops keep on coming.
Monster-kun reveal
Also skip to 6:50.
Good BGM

You are right FBI guy. Rain washes away all evidence.

His sister was already mentioning the Monster so this wasn't really a surprise, but still didn't consider that Johan was able to pull of poisoning the candies.

I wouldn't mind if we never learn how he managed to do it since the main focus of this show is on something entirely different anyway, namely the psychlogical aspects.

Tenmas inner conflict and how his beliefs will change again, now that he has found out that the life he has saved is responsible for the deaths of many others. Quite shocking scenario, looking forward to see how these developments will build up.

Too many questions about the murders but I'm sure those will be answered eventually. This is just the beginning.

Uh, I don't like the type-writer police agent: he seems way too focused on everything that could blame Tenma. And the poor guy... It seems his suffering will only escalate.

This makes me think whether Johan has some supernatural powers or not. The reason he was using the traditional method in killing, probably to hide his true identity.

Well, well, well do you still believes that "all lifes are equal", Tenma?
